Sure, this sounds like a topic for VH-1, but I was trying to make a playlist of songs so sad that I cry. Well, that playlist is about two songs and my eyes have never been more dry. So what what are the saddest songs in the world? If anyone says The Saddest Music in the World soundtrack, I'll hit them.

"If you will not tell me, I will hurt people!!!" -Nuclear Man

"Do you hear? The alpha and the omega. Death and rebirth. And as you die, so will I be reborn!" - Skeletor

I don't know what would be so sad that you'd actually cry, but power ballads are usually pretty depressing. Poison's "Something To Believe In" is a pretty good choice.

Petra's 'For Annie' is pretty sad, but I guess it really depends on what makes you sad in general, or if you've had any sad experiences. I'm sure 'Tears in Heaven' is sad for anyone who's lost a kid.

Danzig - Going Down to Die

Emperor - Thorns on My Grave(the final song from the final album from Emperor, quite possibly the best final line to any song 'Now that I'm gone, lay thorns on my grave')

Megadeth - A Tout Le Monde

Think of me not as One, Think of me not as None, Think of me not at all, for I am Continual.

It amazes me every time someone actually knows that song, let alone knows(and likes) Danzig.

Good choice.

The whole 4p album is pretty depressing for the most part. So another one would be...

Danzig - Can't Speak

You wanna cry? Hmmm...that's a tough one. I'd suggest Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead and anything by Dashboard Confessionals, but that's all so depressing you'll probably want to kill yourself before you cry.

It's hard for me to choose a relatively modern song for such a thing. I know a few times I've cried during Genesis' Misunderstanding, but that partially exploitive of a certain transition in my life. That makes it a cheap shot.

A song that can always inflict upon me a tinge of sorrow is Fantasie Impromptu by Chopin. That middle part hits me every time, but I'm still not sure of the theory behind what gives me that tinge. I need to analyze the sheet music for it, but I haven't had it for years and I hate searching online for sheet music.

RealAudio is required. I'm sure the mp3 is floating around though...

Black- Pearl Jam

My favorite song.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

I'm going with "Great Gig in the Sky" by Floyd of course.

I don't know what it is exactly, a cross between the sorrowful music and the woman's mournful tone.

That only makes you cry because you're sterile. NEXT!

And Ross, the New Orleans band on Studio 60 was pretty awesome.

That one song, that I can't remember the name of, but the story in it is:

That song about the boy and his puppy, but then his puppy gets run over while the boy watches, and he runs home to tell his dad, but his dad has been drinking and beats the shit out of him, so he runs away and meets this nice homeless guy who becomes like a grandfather to him, only to turn out that the homeless guy was really a ghost watching over him, who is then taken back to heaven, and the boys is now lost and alone again, until he meets another puppy, who is crying in the rain, and he runs over to pick up the puppy into his arms, but the puppy is rabid and bites him, and they both have to be put down.

Anybody know that one?

That Mad World song. It was frickin perfect at the end of Donnie Darko. Now they're playing it in that Gears of War commercial. I'm just glad I don't live in the UK, cuz they apparently played it to death there.

He's a man, but he's never on. I'll pass the word along; maybe it'll get his ass back on the forums.
