UPDATE - WORLDS ASSIGNED. WHAT ARE YOU PLAYING? GO HERE TO FIND OUT!

Yep. we're running another one, and the game is Super Mario 2. The US one, not the super hard and not fun at all Japanese one.

It's not certain how we'll split things up, probably by world. However, there will be no warp zones, we're clearing the game. Also, I'm in charge, so there will be no brooking delays without a damn good reason, and you will not be stringing me along. You get 5 days to play and 5 to post, or it moves along. That's just how it's gotta be, you know?

If you want to sign up, post here which worlds you want to sign up for. I know it's a harder game than we're used to, but don't worry, I know we have people who can beat any world we put them on, and to be honest, I have faith in us. Plus, our resident robot of awesomeness, Not Sure, has collected something for us:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5021384/SMB2%20%26%20Saves.zip

This is the SMB2 Rom we are using AND Save States at the start of EVERY world! Use them to practice, see what you can do, and sign on up!

Note you don't have to pick a character. However, if we get a lot of signups, I'll likely assign two worlds to the same person and they will clear those worlds with different people.

No deadline on signups right now, so take your time. I'll let you know when there is a deadline. Also, this collab needs a catchy name,

Yeah, I'll sign up. I haven't played since I was a kid. I used to be pretty good and could clear the game. I'd probably do the most good at a slightly easier, maybe earlier, level. I'll do some playing this weekend and see just how rusty I am.

Sounds funtastic. Very Happy I'm good for any world, preferably one of the harder ones, and will be clearing with Peach.

I'll join in. Haven't played it in years, but I don't recall any levels being *ahem* hard on this game so I'll take anything that nobody else wants.

I think I'll join this one. Give me like the first world or something easy though because I'm not very competent at these games. :O

I'll sign up. But I will only do the first world or something easy.

Also: what emulator are the save states designed for? (It better be Nestopia!*)

*Actually, any emulator will do, Nestopia is just my favorite emulator, since it has a lot of features, and a huge mapper support list, so it can play almost every game made for the system (that count includes those rare obscure pirate orginal and pirate multicart games, of course!)

I'm in, since summer's here I'll actually be able to do this. I'm in for one of the more difficult worlds.

I'm in for this one.

I'll figure out what I want to play soon. Smile

EDIT: Not Sure would pick level 7 or 5 Razz 7 is shorter, and 5 s definitely challenging. I'll pick whatever level he doesn't get.

So, if enough people sign up for this we may do the same world with multiple people, using different characters?

Luigi! Luigi! Oh Yeah! Oh Yeah! :O

Online play is tricky. I'm pretty sure it's the reason we didn't use player helpers on then Kirby Collab.
But, if it's easier on the NES than on the SNES, I'd love it! Very Happy

15 signups. So far. That's...a lot more than I expected.

Still planning on organizing this Tuesday, but to make things easier, I would like everyone to post the answers to the following.

1) How would you describe your skill at the game? Beginner means you can maybe clear the first 2 worlds. Moderate means about halfway in, maybe you can beat it with warps on a good day. Expert means you can beat the game without much trouble.

2) Pick two characters you would like to "claim". Those are the two you will be asked to use when we split worlds if we do.

3) Would you like to be a backup? To become one, not only must you be ready to play on ANYONE'S level with ANY character, but you must be able to beat the game consistently. If you're able to do this, please say so, I'll sign you up for it. You'll still probably be assigned a normal level as well.

1) I'm a medium-to-good, I think. I can aim a decent turnip shot and flee from masks inside bottles well enough, but I hadn't played in a while. Just started again, and I don't seem to have lost too much of my skill Cool
2) Toad and Mario. Straight edge style.
3) I could be a backup, no worries, but I think we'll have enough of those. If we don't, sign me up Smile

1. Fairly good, not a hardcore expert though. I could beat the game without too much trouble, even if it takes a few tries. A level won't be much of a problem.

2. Luigi and Peach. Their jumping abilities are priceless.

3. No backup, sorry.

1. Beginner, I'm pretty awful at this game from what I recall.

2. Probably Mario or Luigi for me.

3. Obviously no backup because I have the skill to /maybe/ get through the second world if I'm pressed to do so.
