Getting started on this collection of Arthurian Legend. Anyone else read it?
So far, I'm surprised how humorous the Sword in the Stone is. I'm only a few chapters in but apparently Disney didn't stray too far from the source material in their depiction.
I heard the other 3 books are more serious though.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!

Yeah the Disney movie was actually a pretty faithful adaptation of this book, as apposed to the silliness infused white wash you'd expect it to be since it's a Disney flick.

I haven't read the others, wasn't aware there were more, what are they called? Smile

It is amazing. I had trouble fully grasping it when I had to read it in class as a sophmore, but I've re-read it since and am truly blown away. It's quite possibly my favorite version of the legend ever.

If you enjoy it, and don't mind hearing the same sort of story retold a different way, I also highly recommend Le Morte d'Arthur by Thomas Malory. A bit dense and archaic, but if you get a good translation, it is one of the most epic things you will ever read.

Hawk, I have heard of that version, I think it is brought up in a review within my copy of the book. I may read a few in between, but I will look for a copy down the line.

Blackout, I was actually talking about the other 3 books in The Once & Future King.
- The Sword in the Stone
- The Queen of Air and Darkness
- The Ill-Made Knight
- The Candle in the Wind

Although I there is a book that was released separately called "The Book of Merlyn" which is the final part of the series.

Cool.

Anyone ever read the Crystal Cave? It's about Merlin growing up. Pretty sweet, but I never read the other books in the series. I think there was a TV show based of it though,
