I'm not sure how Syd feels about it, but I know that I enjoy reading his articles and wish he felt motivated to write more of them. I am guessing that most of you guys feel the same way.

I'm not sure if this would help, but I imagine that if we could boost site traffic to his major articles, without spamming, he would perhaps be excited about it and write more often.

Here are a few ways I can think of to do this:
  1. If you have a website or blog. Give a shout out to your favorite articles. Link them and give them a plug.
  2. Social news sites are great. Add articles that aren't already posted and upvote the ones that are.

  3. Write to your favorite internet magazines and let them know when Syd publishes something you enjoyed.

  4. Mention the article on a social network

I don't think he needs motivation. I think he needs to be exposed to more stimuli to motivate him to write more on his own. That kinda thing shouldn't really be forced or rushed.

Alternativelly, we could hold one of his relatives hostage and send him parts of their bodies each day he don't post a new article.

Can I pick the relative?

What we really need is for the site to generate revenue so Syd can quit his job. However, the idea of turning a hobby into a career is a daunting one.

Honestly, having a real job is good for me. A lot of days, I probably wouldn't even get out of bed if I didn't have to go to work. It forces me to interact with people I wouldn't normally interact with, including girls. However, having the site generate income is still a good goal, as that would impress girls.

Having a website, as it turns out, doesn't impress girls. They don't really seem to understand the difference between "having a website" and "having a Tumblr" or "having a blog". But money, that impresses girls.

There is a difference between Tumblr and a blog?

Having a website MAY impress girls.

Having a website that deals mainly with pop culture and games from the 80's and 90's will most certainly NOT impress any girl...

Well, it never gets that far.

They ask me what else I do. And it's like:

"Well, I have a website and I do a lot of writing on that."
"Oh, like a Tumblr? I have one of those."

Then I just sigh and walk away.

Do you at least sigh loud enough to let them feel your aggravation and dissatisfaction?

Make a business card for your site. That should give the impression that you're important enough for people's money.

Do a sequel to the Robot Masters artical that covers 8, 9, 10, and MM&B. It'd be quick and easy to write and the first one attracted a lot of people, including yours truly.

I need a new computer, my current run 32-bit and higher emulators at shitty framerates making them unplayable. Making MM8 hard to pull off.

Also, are MM9 and MM10 on Steam? If not, getting screengrabs is gonna be a bitch.

MM8 is not for Playstation?

If Syd's computer can't play PSone games, I think we should start thinking in ways for the site to get some revenue, because he has a really shitty computer...

Maybe I can run PSX games, never actually tried. I can't run N64 games, so I just kinda assumed nothing from that gen will run.
