im excited to meet Panthro as well. and i also like this new Snarf as well. he doesnt annoy me as much as the old one
My one gripe with Panthro is that his VA, Kevin Michael Richardson is used a LOT. Just off the top of my head, I can recall he's the principal on American Dad, the Joker on The Batman, several voices on The Boondocks, etc. I was actually kind of hoping they'd try to get beau Billingslea (Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop whom the new design favors).

So I was all set to write this last episode off as filler, up until the last minute when they debut the Thundertank like it's the Goddamn Batmobile. And if the Thundertank shows up, you just know who's piloting it, having its pilot bust out some nunchuks on a stray lizardman.

Holy crap this episode was awesome. I can already see Battle Armor Mumm-Ra and Leo as convention-exclusive action figures. Also, we had this shoutout to Silverhawks.

Ep doesn't air for another half-hour for me, but Silverhawk's shout out is complete and utter win. I loved that show SO MUCH. Not as much as the Thundercats, but I still loved 'em.

Not only that, but the shark men were also a shoutout to the lesser known Tigersharks.
The Tigersharks, AWESOME
Mon-Star and references to the Silverhawks, AWESOME
The armors that both Lion-O and Mumm-ra wear in the final battle, EPIC AWESOME
and
Didn't the tall, I am presuming cat, that was locked away after the animal riot look a lot like Tygrus from Batman the Animated series episdoe Tyger Tyger?

SO MUCH THIS.
Oh my God, when Lion-O busted out that armor I just about flipped.
This series has earned the fact that I've stopped comparing it to the old, and have started enjoying it on its own merits. The shout outs are still wonderful, but I'm eager to explore this new world that's been created.
Mumm-Ra and the Cats working together...who'd have guessed?
Oh, and who else LOVED seeing all the other mutants finally?? Even Vulture-Man! (The only one I didn't see was Rattaro.)

I don't really see a reference to Tygrus as his frame was more bestial and muscular.
I have to confess that I have no memory of Tigersharks, but that does help cement the idea that Rankin-Bass had an action show for land, sea AND air.
Technically it was "Leo" that was wearing the armor, Lion-O was just "piloting."
You'd have only seen Rattaro if there was some dumbass annoying midget pounding a drum.
Random other thoughts:
Mumm-Ra: "I love the power glove, it's so bad."
"Add one more stone and you've basically got an Infinity Claw."
I am VERY interesting in the properties of the other stones, and here's to hoping Lion-O dons the armor for himself in the series finale. Which hopefully, will either give way to guys like the Lunataks [can't WAIT for them to show up at some point] or be the ultimate end to the show and not occur for 3 or 4 seasons).

im enjoying the series so far. im not sure i enjoy mechs in thundercats. i dont remember if the original one had mechs or not.
i know im stretching it by calling the armor a mech in itself when it really wasnt, but thats what it felt like to me.

Powered armor might be a better term than "mech."

My name's Thundercats and I'm an anime!
But, seriously, looks like good times. The old Thundercats is horribly corny. Tried watching it again recently and it just made me cringe too much. Fun fact: James Lipton (In the Actors Studio Guy) composed the original theme song.
So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

Good episode, however this one was the first one that truly felt a bit more like filler, I liked the duelist, but I dunno, I guess you can't have every episode moving the story forward directly

Well I don't know how many of you stuck with this series, other than maybe Hawk; but the first season just ended.
Any ideas for season 2? We still haven't gotten the Trial of the Thundercats.
* Lion-O and Tigra settled things, though I'm curious to see how Lion-O will handle Cheetara's preference for Tigra.
* Gruun is trapped in the astral plane, like he was in the old series.
* Panthro lost his arms, someone's going to need to take over as pilot of the Thundertank.
* The cats have the Spirit Stone in addition to the Eye of Thundara, hopefully Lion-O can once again don that full suit of armor once he has the other two gems.

You know, I'm not in love with the whole spirit stone/suit of armor thing. Yeah it looks cool, but it also feels very un-Thundercats. That may just be me though.
I figure we won't see Lion-O's trial for some time. They need to settle down and have a set, safe base of operations before turning their attention to anything like that.
My guess is that Panthro creates himself some badass cybernetic arms. Speaking of him, I loved his rivalry with Grune. So much more fun than the forced Jaga vs. Grune rivalry in the original series.

Also, I forgot we still haven't seen Pumyra or Bengali yet. But given the pace this series is taking, we probably won't be seeing the Berzerkers or Lunatacks until a hopeful season 3. My one worry is this series might wind up like the 00's He-Man cartoon and die out from low toy sales.

Corrected. Not sure why I did that.

Alright, so here're my thoughts on the returning episode (though it's technically being called episode 14 of Season 1):
* I loved the inclusion and working in of the other two mutant generals, going so far as to even give them actual names instead of just calling them by their species name. And they were actually intimidating.
* Cheetara's character seems to have gone through a bit of whiplash. Not happy.
* Extendo-punch Panthro seems too toyetic for me to take seriously. I was half expecting him to plug his new arms into the upgraded Thundertank like some sort of Planet Key from Transformers Energon and unlock new gear.

Okay, the 2-parter of Lion-O's Trials was awesome. I really appreciated the different take on the trials. Lastly, I took a blind guess that Lion-O would overcome Panthro the way he did.

AGH, somehow I missed that this was back on, and since my D&D crew have been playing on Saturday nights, I've missed them all! TO THE CARTOON NETWORK SITE!

I was wondering why you'd been quiet in here. Also, the show now airs at 9:30 in the morning on Saturdays.
