you guys know, syd and I kind of had an unspoken agreement back in the day where he'd send all of the people that wanted to write for him over to me, and Mister Woodzell and I HAVE been talking about starting another website...

It was a spoken agreement. I still have the e-mails... probably.

Once upon a time i was young and inexperienced in the ways of humor. Jew found me in the rain (of the internet) and took me to the sun (again, of the internet)

haha, optimist has since found his path. It actually lit a fire under my ass when I wasn't sure if I wanted to try a website again.

I'd write articles on another site regularly, but I have no talent for writing humorous articles by myself. Besides, it's a lot more enjoyable doing it with friends.
I say we write a top 100 -insert system here- and submit it to Syd. That way, more content is posted, we get to write a fun article, he can make sure it's not stupid (or add his own input) and I'll stop pestering you all for this.

you know, nothing stops us from just doing that and posting it in the OPP forum. it's not like having content on the front page is the most important thing in the universe, considering we all frequent the boards.

I'd read that, I missed out on the Genesis growing up so it's be good to know what games to focus on while building my collection.

Mister Kowalsky and I are on the verge of a breakthrough. A revolution of the mind, a contribution to the soul, a rainbow of courage infecting all of our blood cells, a crushing determination in our smallest sparks of thought. Prepare yourselves.

I'd read a Genesis list for sure. I owned one but I only ever used it for Sonic and some NHL game. I preferred my SNES, but it would be kinda fun to see what I should maybe play on it.

The thing with the Genesis it that its games generally lacked the vibrancy of SNES games. So only the best of the best still truly hold up today.

Yeah, Genesis games always seemed really "dark" and murky looking, except for the obvious stand outs like Sonic, etc.

that's just because SNES had a wider color palette, while genesis had deeper saturation. other things to note is that unlike the snes, genesis could do realtime mirroring, as seen in the lava levels of rocket knight adventures. the snes, however, could do active transparencies, something that the genesis lacked. that's why the water levels in sonic look like shit but the ghost house fog in mario world looks stupendous.

Another thing is that while the SNES had superior sound and graphics, the Genesis had superior speed. People who have only played SNES games on emulators probably don't realize this, but the SNES was fairly prone to slowdown. Which is a shame, because it generally had better shmups than the Genesis.

I can't really say that the snes had better graphics. They just both had different strengths.

It did. When you look at Mortal Kombat on the SNES vs. the Genesis, the SNES version is noticeably better looking. The same is true of most arcade ports. Now, when you had games that were specifically designed for the Genesis, yeah, they played on the system's strengths and generally looked good.
