Anybody else watches the LCF? Obviously I'm mostly asking the other Canadians here, as I doubt many people in the US give a damn...
Anyway, the regular season starts in 30 minutes. Let's see if the teams in the East manage to not be total crap this year.
EDIT : Sorry, it's CFL. I was watching the pre-game show and didn't think of translating the anagram

user, you've probably heard of it but didn't know what it was called. It's that slightly-off version of football ESPN sometimes shows highlights off. I think they're championship is called the Grey Cup.

Alouettes' defense sucked major ass in second half and let the Riders score 3 touchdowns in a row, losing 54-51 on overtime (second possession).
The Riders could have won earlier but they had ANOTHER too-many-men-on-the-field penalty on what would have been the last play of the game.

the eskimos/blue bombers game was so intense, I'm glad my esks got the win, now all we need is for the Lions to lose to the Roughriders and the Eskimos are in the playoffs what a season its been for the esks who started winless in our first 6 games
this is nothing short of a miracle lol
Some noticable different rules in the CFL compared to the NFL
American Football:
* 11 players
* 4 downs
* 100 by 50 yard field
* 10 yard end zones
* 45 second play clock
* no point for touchback
* goal posts at back of end zone
* Fair Catch
Canadian Football:
* 12 players
* 3 downs
* 110 by 55 yard field
* 25 yard end zones
* 24 second play clock
* single point for touchback
* Goal posts are on goal line
* No Yards

Let's assume it's a mixture of the two!

Well, it's not something you see very often. Just watch Mark Trestman's (the Alouettes' coach) face after the play

The CFL is on the NFL Network on Friday nights here in the US, it's good for when there's nothing on at a sports bar. But good luck telling that to the redneck NFL fan.
I enjoy the CFL. I want to learn more about it.

You know, except for the 3 downs thing, I kind of like watching CFL games.
Also, goal posts on the goal line? I thought everyone moved them back because of the safety factor.

The end zone is 25 yards long in the CFL. If you have to reach the 15 to get a decent field goal distance you might as well try for a touchdown.
Also, it's less of an issue in the CFL because the field is so fucking huge, so it's easier to just not crash into them.

My feelings exactly. I love the CFL, but that part always makes me twitch.
And since we're on the subject, GO ESKIMOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could see a live game, even on the net, but I have to content myself with radio streams for now. Better than nothing though.

Eastern Finals : Toronto 17, Montreal 48
Seems like the eastern finals is still a sure-win for the Alouettes. At least this time they went against a team from the East this year.
When the team ranked 4th in the West reaches the eastern finals 2 years in a row, you know the East sucks.
Western Finals : Saskatchewan 20, Calgary 16
Good thing the CFL season ends soon. At -25°C it's not a very good time to play football. Or be in the stands. First time I've seen the chain crew stop the game because the fucking chain froze.
Saskatchewan vs Montreal (again) for the Grey Cup, at Edmonton. I hope it won't be played under shitty weather.
Let's see if the Riders can remember their 13th man has to stay OUT of the field this time.

Why is Saskatchewan so popular anyway? They're like everybody's second team, the one you cheer for when your's is gone.

Hoping Montreal will finally play well for two halves. The last 5 times they scored like 3 points in the first half and 20-30 in the second.
And Damon Duval better not fail all his kicks this time.

Hah, as long as Calgary loses, I'm happy.
Yes I know that's the Flames logo and not the Stamps, but since they both are equally horrible, I figure it doesn't really matter. One Calgary team sucks as much as the next. |
Are you sure youre not from Edmonton? you would fit right in with all of my friends
I completely support this statement btw
the only good thing coming out of calgary is highway 2 north

I'm happy the Alouettes won, but damn, I don't know what the fuck happened to Damon Duval but he's really painful to watch.
He missed 2 short field goals and kept missing his punts so they barely traveled 30 yards.
It's been two years in a row where he almost ruined everything. Last year he was saved from that hilarious penalty, this time by the defense making the interception.
He was one of the best last season, but since the 2009 Grey Cup match he's easily the worst kicker in the league. Must be unable to handle the pressure or something.
