Wired: News Manga Article

Wired.com wrote:
Manga No Shimbun draws on the comic book format to cover actual news in Japan -- from foreign policy to pop culture to murder trials -- as a way to capture the interest of young people.

While I think this is an interesting idea to grab the youths' attention, I don't think it's a good idea to print serious news in this form. News about deaths and wars could quite possibly be perceived with less gravity due to the medium.

RIP Hacker.

How is it any worse then the Russian News where the female newscasters strip while giving the news reports?

It's just another way to try to get more people interested in current events and the world around them.

Wait, they still print the news... on paper?

I hate to say it, especially as the son and grandson of former Teamsters who worked their whole lives at the Philadelphia Inquirer, but newspapers and other news media in hard copy are in for the fight of their lives. I'm actually kind of glad my father died before all of these papers really started going under. I would postulate that in another ten years, you're not going to be seeing anything but digital editions.

Who likes role-playing games? Me. Way too goddamn much.
