Once the story broke, all the sources said that this was pretty inevitable. Good for him and best of luck. Most all college coaches have a hard time transitioning to the NFL.

It's hard to tell how he will do. He is currently 33-31 as a NFL head coach. He has experience. But he seemed to do better as a DC in the NFL. It will be interesting to see how things have changed.

So another coach hiring and firing...what else is new?

When are these club owners going to realize that your team is going to continue to struggle no matter who you put in place?

I'm not exactly sure how this went down. I'm not saying Mora was canned because they knew they could get Carroll, but if that was the case, I can understand why they would. I don't know if Carroll will be successful or not, but I can see why you would go after a guy like that. I think they sort of screwed up with Mora by promising him the job a whole year before Holmgren retired.

But I agree. You can't throw a coach in a situation like that, let him think he has time, then can him after a season. Well, you can, but I don't think it does any good. It is basically a waste of a season if you ask me.

Everyone here was ridiculously psyched when the Hawks went to the Super Bowl.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious Mora was fired because Caroll was interested. Mora still has 3 years on his contract of $4 million per year, so that's a lot of money for Seattle to eat unless there was a really good reason (5-11 record is NOT a good reason to take that kind of hit). Clearly they believe Pete can magically transform a mediocre team into a playoff team overnight, which is pretty delusional when looking at Seattle's players.

I agree, unless they plan on rebuilding which I suspect will happen.
