On Paper, The Cowboys are better in almost every catergory against rival Eagles. Dallas has succeeded in sweeping both Philly and Washington in the 2009 season, and has had back to back shut outs entering the playoffs. But will the hype, and the inability to win a playoff game since 1996 keep this team from being a legitimate Super Bowl contender?

Take a quick look at the stats gathered thus far:

(Offense)

Total Yd's per game:
Eagles-357.2
Cowboys-399.4

Passsing Yd's per game:
Eagles-255.6
Cowboys-267.9

Rushing Yd's per game:
Eagles-102.3
Cowboys-131.4

Points Per Game:
Eagles-26.8
Cowboys-22.6

Third Down Conversion %:
Eagles-36.2
Cowboys-40.6

Time Of Possesion:
Eagles-28:14
Cowboys-32:16

(Defense)

Total Yd's Allowed:
Eagles-321.1
Cowboys-315.9

Passing Yd's Allowed:
Eagles-216.4
Cowboys-225.6

Rushing Yd's Allowed:
Eagles-104.7
Cowboys-90.5

Points Per Game Allowed:
Eagles-21.1
Cowboys-15.6

Third Down Conversion Allowed:
Eagles-33.0
Cowboys-35.0

With the Cowboys shutting out the Eagles last week at home, it's a tough call to determine who will win this game, but it's safe to say that Dallas has the edge. Let's discuss.....

Dallas has a lot of momentum too but I'll go against the odds and pick the Eagles.

I don't want to see it happen, but they do have the momentum at the moment...so I'll say yes.

The Cowboys have Romo. Not exactly the greatest clutch quarterback out there.

Romo has gotten better and matured though, and the two losses in December that Dallas had weren't his fault. He's pretty much on fire right now, as is the rest of the team. The Eagles however, looked flat last week and if teams can just shut down Jackson, they're pretty much crippled. So I'm going with the Cowboys finally getting the monkey off their back.

Romo is the Chris Weber of football. Every time his team has a chance to win a big game, Romo travels with the ball and tries to call time out when he doesn't have one (e.g. Fumbling away the hold on a chip shot field goal). Romo has never won anything and never will (unless the NFL institutes a "prettiest eyes award" because, say what you want about how much he sucks on the field, he's manpretty).

The Cowboys stand up well against the Eagles. Philly has proven that defensively, they are a young team. Especially in the middle linebacker position. Dallas is able to tear up the middle of the field with Witten and have a balanced attack running the ball well. Romo may not have won the big game yet, but those naysayers can not deny that he has been rolling strong through December/ January and has been doing nothing but proving people wrong. Dallas is red hot right now, and I expect them to hand the Eagles a loss tonight.

If Philly lets Dallas jump ahead as they have done in the past three weeks, scoring touchdowns on their first offensive possession, then it will prove to be another long day for Philly. Dallas is at home, and is a hungry team. They want to prove the league wrong, Tony wants to prove the league wrong......and what better way to do it then against the Eagles in the wild-card playoffs, clinching their first playoff win since 1996.

How bitter-sweet would it be for Dallas fans to say that The Eagles, if beaten have lost 50% of their games to the Cowboys? (11-6)

Yeah, I agree with MouthForWar. Criticism of Tony Romo was accurate last season when they were blown out by Philly and thus knocked out of the playoffs, not not this season. I don't know how anyone can still say Romo is a choker, sucks in December, and will never win when he has been playing so well the last 4 weeks.

I'm not a fan of the Cowboys in the least, but you have to give credit where it's due. They look very strong, and Romo is playing his heart out while Philly is flat. And if DeSean Jackson is shut down again like he was last week, their offense, that is completely based around big plays, will stop.

Hey Philly:

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

What a great way to end it, too, by denying them the extra ego-bandage score, and intercepting McNabb. Couldn't have written the script better if you'd asked me.

I'm not a Romo guy...at all. As you can probably see from my earlier comments in this thread, but damn. He is impressing me, so much so that I think the Cowboys are going to beat The Vikings and The Saints and go to the Super Bowl this year to beat The Chargers. But then again, what do I know, I didn't get one game right in the entire first round, so I may have just jinxed your Cowboys Hawk...sorry.

^ That scenario would be the sweetest possible one for me. To not only win the Big Game, but to take out the Chargers doing it. I live in San Diego, and have had to put up with asshole Chargers fans for years and years and years--fans that only got smugger this year after beating my 'Boys a few weeks ago.

Watching them cry themselves to sleep would make me oh so very happy. I'm getting all giddy just thinking about it.

I'm the biggest Cowboys fan in STL man. Everyone here is so fair-weather to the Rams, I almost feel sorry for the franchise. Everyone always makes fun of me out here for being a Cowboys fan, but I stick by my team. I'm a true DIE-HARD fan, that sticks with them through thick and thin. Even through the Quincy Carter era, I was STILL a Big D fan. I've been a Dallas fan since I was nearly 5 years old. I've been to Texas Stadium like 4 times in my life, and can NOT wait until I can visit Cowboys Stadium. I would LOVE nothing more then for my boys to ride high on this and take the confidence and swagger with them into the Super Bowl.

The Dallas crowd singing that song at the end of the game was so bitter-sweet! I loved it! No Super Bowl for Donovan McFagg this season!!

A 'Boys fansite. They have THE largest collection of the absolute WORST smileys (Cowboys themed and otherwise) that I have ever, ever seen. Naturally I look for excuses to use them at every possible opportunity. Especially this one:

It makes no sense whatsoever, but its Spiderman, and he's DANCING. PLUS it involves the Cowboys for no conceivable reason. It is therefore AWESOME. Nod

I don't really follow football anymore BUT I did see my homeboy from right here in Hot Springs, John Phillips make a touchdown for the Cowboys the other night. Gotta root for people I actually use to play Nintendo with.
