so I'm doing a pog video review and I'd like to know what people would want me to talk about since I grew up with Pogs and have a vast knowledge of them!

I would personally love to hear about different kinds of slammers. Pogs themselves never did much for me, but for some reason I love slammers--especially the razors, and thin metal coin-looking ones.

My two cents.

Pogs were the shortest lived fad ever! They weren't even able to remain popular for a whole summer, it was like 3 weeks! How could ANYONE claim to have "grown up with pogs" or have a "vast knowledge of pogs"? The fucking Kanye at the VMA's meme made it longer than pogs did for fuck's sake!

pogs were huge in mexico by the time the craze got to the USA. and it was cool, cause in mexico, they gave away a tiny toons pog inside a bag of chips. the small bags, not the big ones. but still, a free tiny toons pog. sometimes they even had the animated ones, were you move the pog and depending on the light hitting it, it would appear as though it was moving.

Haha, I know. I had no use for that bullshit because I had a fucking Nintendo. Hell I would have rather played Pick Up Sticks.

In all honesty, when I was not allowed to play with Nintendo or Super Nintendo, I had to resort to three things, Lego's Micro Machines and Mother Fucking POG's. And for christ sake jeebus calm your ass down. Because you probably never played or used them doesn't mean they still weren't big where other people were. in anycase shut up and watch it or not I don't give a damn, I'm still going to explain my childhood enjoyment and POG's were apart of it.

Yeah, POGs were pretty popular for a couple years while I was in elementary school, so they lasted about as long as any silly fad does. I still have my tube of POGs and slammers somewhere.

To counter Jeebus, Magic cards exploded into my area for about a summer when 4th edition came out, then by the time Homelands was released, everyone had stopped playing it as opposed to your experience where you still play the game. So for my area, the Magic fad only lasted a couple months.

Fads really depend on the area to survive I think.

Bullshit. I'm sure if you looked you could find a thriving Magic community in your area.

I think we should bring back pogs. Syd should make some pogs and sell them on his site. That new banner would make a pretty sweet pog.

Yeah, that was my point though. It's no longer a popular fad if you have to scour comic book stores to find the community.

It's also not a fad when it's been around for 16 years and in a stage of unprecedented growth.

Hey... ALF POG's are the best damnit. Sadly I left all my oldschool pogs at home so I have to resort to the weaker 2000's POG set they have been selling at Wal-Mart and Kinney's Drugs...

A little insight to my experience with pogs, I randomly bought a dozen or so at one of those little stands they set up every so oftenat the mall. They were pretty cool, had a few with a shark playing sports among other random shit. One pog featured a man punching another man in the balls.

Then came the McDonalds Power Rangers pogs, some stoned motherfucker working there once gave me an absolute shitload of them, which I had all besides the Black Ranger and Goldar. I must've had about 30 White Rangers.

Another time, I saw a set at Wal Mart marked to $5.00. So I go to buy them, and they ring up $25. FUCK! Well, my sister was in line behind me and paid for them before I could put them back. She didn't do it as a "good deed", she wanted to make me feel like shit and hold it over my head for a while.

I eventually took the slammers and traded some guy at my church for "rare" varients that came with staples in them. I got ripped off big time.

But no regrets, sure it was a pointless dumb hobby that was here and gone over the course of 8 months. But I didn't waste too much money on them and had a lot of fun with them.

I was into Pogs back in the fall of 1994. My middle school banned then after a kid pulled a knife on another because he lost a game.

My favorite slammer was the O.J. Simpson slammer. It had O.J. behind bars on the front and said "O.J. In The Slammer." And then on the back said "The Chase" with police cars chasing the white Ford Bronco.

Haha...that's pretty clever...I kinda want one now.

I wonder what it would take to trick people into collecting these things again. I actually think this is a step up from shit like Pokemon cards.

All I can say is that I had a really awesome Sonic the Hedgehog metal slammer when I was a kid. I think I still have it in my parents' basement.

Whoever thinks this is the worst fad ever, I remember working at Toys R Us, we had cup stacking set, since that was the new fad....stacking cups....yeah. And who in their right mind would buy a cup stacking set for $25 when you can get beer cups for like less than $3?

Oh yeah, the cup stacking fad! I remember some douche bag kid did that for the talent show in middle school. I wasn't impressed. Remember those juggling sticks too? Those were pretty lame.
