This could make for some very interesting comics/games/movies.

Yeah, I've received multiple phone calls regarding this today. The news is getting very mixed reactions here.

I knew this was coming. There will either be no noticeable changes or it will alienate every Marvel fan out there. I could really care less though.

I wonder what this means for Universal Studios Theme Park.

A) I haven't been in General yet today
B) It belongs here so this is the only forum I checked
C) You can argue about whether or not it belongs here, but it's my site and I say it goes here

While it's fairly irrelevant where it is, I would argue for general (which is why I didn't movie it) because Marvel as ac company includes more than just reading material (movies, video games, etc.)

Does this mean we can FINALLY expect the release of the long awaited Marvel vs. Capcom vs. Duckburg?

Marvel only directly produces comics though, and Iron Man. Everything else was licensed out to other companies.

This is absolutely terrible. Prepare to see a marvel whitewash like nobodies business.

I will say this: If Disney had owned Marvel ten years ago, those X-Men movies would have turned out a LOT better because FOX wouldn't have been involved.

Honestly, this is probably going to be a good thing much like Warner Brothers buying DC. It gives Marvel a much larger cash flow, and it may prevent them from doing stupid things (WB refused to let DC kill Batman, because they were going to do it just after Batman Begins came out. This was probably for the best as the handling of his "death" that happened since then has been absolutely fucking dreadful)

...but they still killed off Batman. So explain again how WB saved the day?

They prevented it from happening for a while. I'd like to think that they could have prevented it forever if only they had persisted.

But they didn't. And since when has MORE bureaucracy EVER benefitted anything?

And WB didn't prevent DC from killing off Batman because they thought it was an inherently; they did it because they were about to relaunch a movie franchise that had been run into the ground and they felt that from a business standpoint it was a bad idea. Once Nolan proved that movie brand was bankable, WB no longer gave a shit what DC did with the comic books.

Here's what happens when a giant corporation takes over a comic book company:

1. Controversial violence will slowly cease
2. Controversial storylines will slowly cease
3. All the good writers get sick of being censored and quit
4. The product becomes dull and hackneyed

Hasn't all of that already happened at marvel?

The Goddamn Batman would like to have a word with you. The only thing DC has dropped so far because of content since being taken over by WB (to my knowledge) is The Boys, and it happened the issue after the gerbil up a guys ass, so it was definitely an extreme book.

Then again, I guess there's plenty of stuff that has the Disney tentacle playing with it's ass, so never mind.

Think of the possibilities.

One of my buddies is all pissed off about it because he thinks they will ruin the movies by trying to make them kid friendly...I don't really see the point he's getting at since the Spider Man movies, and X-Men were both only PG-13...it's not like they were R rated movies to begin with.

Bullshit, when I think Marvel, I think comic books.

I'd be more concerned about the complete dissapearance of any comic books with any worse than an all ages rating.
