That's awesome. Voltron figures should be beat to death because if they aren't being played with, they are being wasted. I had the die cast metal lions, but somewhere in my childhood lost half of them. One of my most pressing goals is to find a nice set of the original 1983 die-cast set and be reunited with it.

oh man. I would kill my own mother to have that again. I had it when I was a kid, and was running down a walkway, and fell forward on it, knocking out two of my teeth, cutting my lip, and decapitating the toy. I cried for days.

my brother had the full voltron set when we were kids. sadly, my mom sold them in a yard sale for like $5 way back in the day. she did the same thing w/Jabba's sail barge + the Millenium Falcon. the originals..... sigh

I think I've gone through at least two sets of Voltron figures. My uncle just kept buying them for me! Of course, I was a moron back then and left all my cool toys outside Sad

I kinda fail for having the transformers in the way, but I was too lazy to climb up my shelf to move things around for pictures.

They have reproduction Voltron figures for sale at an entertainment store I frequent. Couldn't tell you anything about the quality, though, as there's no way in hell I'm paying $70 for them.

Its not mine, its my boyfriend's so I went and got him to lend me the instructions. Razz
VOLTRON Defender of the Universe Two Mighty Memory Battle Games
for 2 to 5 players age 5 to 12
It says on the box you can play it using your action figures, which is why I introduced the idea in this topic, but it comes with cardboard "movers" of VOLTRON, ROBEAST, five ROBOT LIONS, and the five VOLTRON Force members: Princess Allura, Keith, Pidge, Lance, and Hunk.
There are two games: a beginner's game called Search for Voltron and an advanced game called Form Voltron.
Both games function as memory games using upside down chips that you flip to determine your movements. You try to remember where the chips are after flipping them back upside down when your turn is over. In the beginner game you must find 5 hidden keys required to form VOLTRON before the ROBEAST can defeat the ROBOT LIONS. In the advanced game you do the same but the ROBEAST and ROBOT LIONS move around the battlefield.
When all 5 keys have been found before the ROBEAST defeats the ROBOT LIONS then the player who finds the 5th key becomes team leader and shouts (direct quote from the instructions) "Let's form VOLTRON! Activate Interlock! Dyna Therms connected! Infra cells up! Mega Thrusters are go! Form VOLTRON!" and then the whole team shouts "Let's Go VOLTRON team!" and the team leader uses the VOLTRON mover to knock over the ROBEAST mover.
**note** all the stuff in all caps is how it's written in the instructions.

oh my god, I love this thread. I had a Voltron action figure when I was really small, but then when my brother was born it all of a sudden became his. Life isn't fair.

I had one of the die cast lions as a kid and it also got decapitated. I lost the body, but I still have the head on my bookshelf. Even the head of one of those is more bad ass than most of the toys they make nowadays.

Yeah, they got Battletech in trouble by mislicensing old artwork from Fasa, when Fasa sued Playmates or whoever ran Exo Squad Harmony Gold jumped in and said wait a damn minute, Fasa misicensed that art from US! Now no one gets to use the Glaug Officer Pod anymore. Laughing

I saw exo squad toys redeccoed and repackaged as some kinda shitty knockoff a few years ago at a kaybee toy store. Anyone able to shine light on that?

I really liked the Exo-Squad show, and the original toy line was pretty badass.

Also I have a really cool beat to shit Voltron shirt, maybe I'll post a pic.

That is amazing. Like... Star trek/x-men crossover awesome.

Do want.

The review is hilarious, too.

Relevant Bump: My die-cast Voltron missing both arms and a wing Laughing

I also can't remember for the life of me where the lion toy was from, but it came with an Indian with a hologram torso/shield and glow-in-the-dark spear. Probably my 3rd favorite toy, after Ninja Turtles and Voltron.
