Anyone else catch this flick? Funny movie. Not quite Office Space funny, but I did feel MUCH better by the end of it.
However, reading the reviews today it seems all the critics couldn't get around the penis game. Ebert, Trib, etc. all talked about the game but not the fact the movie really doesn't have a plot or an antagonist or any reason that they should hate the movie. That upsets me At least hate the movie for something other than a gimmick or running joke. Oh well, we all can't be critics...

I'm kinda torn about it... On the one hand, it *does* have Dane Cook and it looks mostly funny, but some of it looks too crass for my sense of humor. Specifically, I am concerned that the scene they tease in the trailer where the lady sends her food back is going to be far more graphic than it needs to be. Do I really need to see some guy huck a loogie into some chick's mash potatoes? Fuck no, I don't!
Also, I find it hard to believe than ANY woman, especially one with any level of hotness, would have sex with Luis Guzman anywhere. I'm not sure which has more germs... Luis or the public restroom where they screw, but if I was a girl, I would definitely be afraid of both.

The food sabatage scene really isn't that bad. It's pretty much the exact same as in the trailer, but with an extra bit of pube hair.
The Luis sex scene, at least in the Chicago land area, plays off well because it isn't about Guzmán, but about the Hispanic community's ability to talk anyone into having sex anywhere. As terribly racist as that sounds, the Hispanic dominated audience I saw the movie with cheered during all those scenes. Plus, with a couple of my friends around here I can say it is true. Very true.

Ah, that's fine then.

I must learn their ways... I think having sex on the Mad Hatter's Tea Party ride at Disney woiuld be hilarious.

Just got done seeing this movie, and I liked it quite a bit. Syd, I was in the same boat as you before I saw it: a little bit worried that it would be all dick/fart/pube/spit jokes, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Don't get me wrong, there is definitely a fair share of that kind of humor in the flick, but there are plenty of scenes and one liners that had me in stitches tonight. I'd definitely say it's worth the price of admission (at least at a grad student price in central/south Jersey- Hell, I'd pay full price for this movie.)

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us. |
