Fucking LOL.

But yeah, once I gave American Dad a chance it turned out to be one of my favorite animated shows.

they played the whole video. not a snippet of it, but the whole fucking video. total time filler.

i mean, the video was gay & funny, but not for 3 whole minutes. fuck that noise

That's been one of their things they are starting to do every season. I never saw the video and it was a hell of a lot better then Conway Twitty. While it did drag on there was no real place to break it up without being super abrupt about it.

How about...not doing it at all? If you can't contain your "jokes" then you have no business wasting time with them, especially if all you're going to do is show a music video.

...will it flop? Probably not. As stated about his take on Star Wars, Seth is funnier when something else is providing the framework for the show, and The Flintstones is about as established as you can get. The problem I had with the show, even as a kid, was that if you took away all the caveman gags, you just had a so-so version of "The Honeymooners," which is what it was designed to be. Children have since been treated to more re-imaginings of Fred and his stone-age world than one would have thought possible. So this is what it's come to: We get a repurposed version of an already worn-thin property to be re-imagined by a guy who produces animated fare that has roughly the same template to begin with. I think all that's actually up for debate will be whether or not Dino will talk.

Seth's take on Star Wars wasn't great. The first one was great, the second one was so-so, the third one was awful. Seth has even said he only did the third one out of obligation, not because he wanted to.

Dude, fuck you. Seth McFarlane might have fallen from grace in recent years, but in no way is he deserving of that fate.

I wish you were on the plane with him.

I felt the same way about American Dad. I thought it was "meh" at first but grew to love it. Me and the wife watch it all the time now.

I still think Cleveland Show is "meh"

and Family Guy's early stuff was great IMO, now it's really just hit or miss.

With that said, I don't have my breath held for this, but I'll at least check it out and see how I feel about it.

The Star Wars parody was just a waste of time. Star Wars parodies have been done to death and his "take" on things wasn't interesting or nothing new from what I've seen before.

I will admit, this made me laugh:

But this is probably what the show will be like:

Worst Gazoo impression I've ever heard.

How far into the first show until we hear about Fred's woolly mammoth, or Wilma's pearl necklace?

The Flinstones are sacred damn it. Next thing you know Macfarlane will make Fred and Barney cops and team them up with the thing and an amorphous blob.

With respect to Ren and Stimpy, John K didn't write past season 2 (i think it was 2).

He got fired as a writer and also as the voice of Ren which probably is why the show got really shit.

Though i'd be interested to see these shorts he made.

I recently saw the shorts John Kricfalusi did with the Jetsons and Yogi Bear. The animation in those things really bugged me.

As for the Flintstones thing that's going on, I'm not really looking forward to it.

My biggest concern is this: what will the animation style be like? Will Seth try and emulate the old HB style, or will he use his own established style? I like to see something somewhere in between those two options. It's important that show doesn't look like Family Guy.

Hopefully there won't be any black people on the show. There were no black people in Flintstones times.

They're pretty over the top and disgusting, in one Ren knocks Stimpy up and they go the the hospital to give birth, and it turns out he's just constipated, Mr. Horse builds them a baby out of poop.

I used to read Jon K's blog a lot, because he had some interesting things to say, but the fact that he thought he was some kind of tortured genius and that nobody appreciated those HB shorts he did just turned me off. He strikes me as possibly being a massive asshole in real life.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.
