This is a tool assisted zero coin speedrun. It isn't mine. Its just one I used as a reference. Though it is tool assisted (I believe he said he used savestates and possibly slowed down the gameplay), it could easily be done using a combo of the glitch exploits that we used for this contest.
Holy crap he killed lakitu!

I've only managed to get to the second level twice now. And I can't get my roundhouse kicks or whatever to work half the time, wtf?
Yeah. Shouldn't we be getting a point total or something?
6 coins got 5th place...not bad. You know, I'm not even sure of my time, I just know I died a fluckton in 8-2.
I think it was yours I was watching yesterday. It made me LOL. You did a miraculous dodge of the hammer bros then fell off a ledge right before the flag.
I'll post the leaderboard soon.

Ask the Nintendobot for some pointers, like what cheats he's using and how many appends he's making to his run

Yay! Picked up the sai, got beat so I could drop it, went on tilt.
Since discovering new ways to attack and do things I'm starting to suck So, if you've got a method that has worked, is working, and really fits your style, DON'T change it, no matter how cool the move or technique looks.
It's costing me a lot of, what would normally be, awesome runs.

How come my runs seem to get the most reaction? Not that I mind.
I just converted my video. 15 minutes! More than half the video was getting past 8-2 and 8-3. I swear, my 7-coin run was MUCH cleaner.
Because everyone else looks like a bot when they play.

Rowful.
I've been meaning to do some random things in my videos, particularly my level 1 Contra run so it didn't look like a tool assisted run-through
Looks like we need to stop being so tight on non-timed runs to give you something entertaining to watch. Not that bot runs aren't interesting, but they are boring.
Honestly, full speed ahead is the only way I know to play SMB. If I'm not running or getting an item I'm not playing the level right.
I always think your going to cheat just to not come in last place but I always figure out your not after like 2 seconds.

What will happen the one day that you pick a game I am good at?
Oh wait... I would have to be good at some game for that to happen...

Let's find out.
You’re in the Mushroom Kingdom, walking along, when all of the sudden you look down, and you see a Koopa Troopa.. It’s crawling toward you. You reach down, you flip the Koopa over on its back. The Koopa lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over, but it can’t, not without your help. But you’re not helping. Why is that, NotSure?
As much as I hate this game I'm gonna throw down for this round and give it my all. I guarantee I'll be able to get past at least stage 2, but that's probably the end of it.
My neighbor had this when I was a kid and I played it a lot, but we never got past level 3 or 4 at the most.

Here's my run. The pain begins in the second video.
EDIT:Accidentally deleted video's. Thought for some reason we were still on Mario. I'm tired. ~Douche~
While playing this, I'm really missing Double Dragon II. It's got a few features that I wish I had access to (mostly the "recovery" moves like the uppercut and power knee.)
Well, I still suck at this game. But the good news is I just beat the first Double Dragon on one life. Its the first time I've ever done it. I usually don't even beat it because I get killed by the walls at the start of 4 or by that machine gun asshole. But this time was a great success.
III is just too brutal. It hurts playing it.

OK, I need a clarification on the weapons thing. I'm assuming actually hitting someone with a weapon is a fail, accidental or not, but I've done the following as well:
-accidentally picked up the weapon and swung it (missing)
-intentionally picked up the knife and tossed it away from the enemy so they can't pick it up.
-both accidentally and intentionally picked a weapon up, then went to the menu screen to select "bare hands" to get rid of the weapon.
Which of those are allowed? I'm guessing all of them.
