Has anyone heard of these guys? I originally found out about them while searching for megaman tunes on p2p. They play covers of old NES games, and frankly, they kick ass at it. If you get a chance, check them out.

http://www.ocremix.com

Go to the top of the screen where there are a number of letters in alphabetical order. Got a game from Mega Man 2 you want to hear (remixed). Click M. Castlevania, click C. I particularly recommend the Mega Man remixes.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

I heard about these guys about a year ago and I was honestly thinking about posting about it recently. I was beat to it. Heh.

I was riding in a car on a double date with a friend of mine and my date had a burned CD. We put it in and listened to it; Most of it wasn't really my thing. All of a sudden I heard a distinct song and instantly became pissed off (as is my nature) and started ranting about how they had stolen the riff from the "Start/Password" screen from Mega Man 2. I almost set the car on fire. My date slapped me and I shut up. She handed me the CD case and I looked down to the current track: "Mega Man 2 - Minibosses." I nearly died. I had never known that there was a band that played video game music. I've been wanting to get a band together to play video game music, along with progressive rock and original stuff. This is a band that fuels me and I love listening to them. As into music as I am, I don't listen to music that often, but maybe that's because I'm listening to the music of the video games I'm playing. I have a bunch of their songs burned onto a CD. I swear that someday I'll be able to find people with the technical ability to play stuff like this with me.

RIP Hacker.

Ocremix has some good songs, but I prefer http://www.vgmix.com. I also like http://dod.vgmix.com. (The main contributors to both sites do more metal mixes, and I prefer that over the largely techno database of OCR.)

I prefer VGmix because their database is better organized (you can sort by quality, which is nice) and in general I think they've got better stuff. On the other hand, OCR has its fair share of good stuff, plus you can get torrents of all their songs pretty easy (which makes downloading faster/easier).

I saw them in Chicago a few months ago - brilliant. They've got a website: www.minibosses.com. There are a few of their remixes available there as mp3s, and I recommend listening to the Megaman 2 one - that's what got me hooked.

And I think they've got a new studio album out, which I need to get.

I've been a fan for about 5 years. They have been around for a very long time. Their new studio disc is great! I HIGHLY recommend it. It's a little sped up from their earlier work, but great! Contra and Mega Man 2 are my personal favs. This album was the first time they did Ikari Warriors, which is a rad track!

The Minibosses is a group that was previously called the "Jenova Project" after a band member left.

They play Game Music from all sorts of games.

The Minibosses rule! I really like their Megaman 2 track, and their Castlevania 2 one is also awesome.

Crap, I'm probably late on this board, too.

Also, the Jenova project is a different band that played original tracks and video game music. The band broke up, but when the Minibosses formed, some of the old band members reunited.

Of course, I could be wrong. Frankly, I'm too lazy to check Wikipedia right now.
