All this talk about MK II reminded me of the syndicated live action series set in the MK universe. Did anyone else watch it?

I never saw it, but when I visited Disney World in '99, we saw the sets for it on one of the tours at Disney/MGM Studios.

Wow, and I just remembered the cartoon on USA's Action Express line-up.

I do remember "Mortal Kombat Defenders of the Realm" starring Ron Perlman better than I remember "Mortal Kombat Konquest". I've every episode of the cartoon show at least twice, while I have only bad memories of the live action TNT or USA version. I've heard in later years Konquest wasn't half bad. Maybe it was the "Blade: The Series" of its time.

EDIT: The "Konquest"s should be "Conquest". I'm sorry for my ignorance.

I've got a handful of episodes of "Conquest" (remarkably not spelled with a K). The martial arts are good, and the stories are okay. Jeff Meek, who plays Raiden, is superb. However, there's a lot about the series that annoyed me. Like how there were a million characters in the MK universe by that point, and yet they had to make up two characters to be Kung Lao's buddies.

Of course, it's set in the original Kung Lao's time, so many of the later characters wouldn't have existed yet. But actually that didn't stop them. They still introduced a mess of characters that shouldn't yet have been alive.

It's worth noting that Lao's sidekicks were played by Kristanna "T3/BloodRayne" Loken and Daniel "Jean-Claude Gosh Darn" Bernhardt. And one episode features a then-unknown Eva Mendez.

Oh, and the series wanted desperately to be porn.

Conquest holds a special place for me because it was one of the few shows my dad and I would watch together in my early teens. The storylines were actually pretty good too.

Never heard of the live action show. I liked what I saw of the cartoon, but it wasn't on at a good time here. Always had trouble finding it.

The cartoon was greatness, you mised alot Cattivo. Conquest was great in its last season. I just realized that Kristanna Loken seems to just join franchises, MK, T3, Bloodrayne, she needs to start something herself.

Technically, she did with Bloodrayne as it was the first film... Otherwise we might as well say the same thing about Patrick Stewart or Ian McKellen.

Well it was a prequal to the games, kindof. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, they're so good they're franchises in there own right.
