Just a quick question for everyone: what did you think of this movie (if you've seen it, obviously)?

I saw it this past Friday with fairly low hopes due to reading some shitty reviews for it from both critics AND average viewers. I have to be honest though, I thought it was an all-around very solid movie. At points, I even found myself a little bit freaked out from it, which is hard to do to me. The only movies that ever scared me before this one were the Exorcist, the Blair Witch Project (from what I gather, either this movie scared you or you thought it was stupid), and Event Horizon.

Anyway, in Emily Rose, I thought it was a nice combination of the courtroom "drama" and scary shit through flashbacks. Anyway, any thoughts? Or am I just becoming a pussy at the ripe old age of 24?

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

I haven't seen it, but Event Horizon was one of the few horror movies that genuinely creeped me out too, so maybe I will now.

if you wanna see a lame pg-13 version of the exocist with not an ounce of suspense or horror with a lame drawn out plot and forced acting, then go see the exorcism of emily rose.

WOOOO!!!! HORROR MOVIES!!!! I WUV HORROR MOVIES Very Happy

I haven't seen Emily Rose, because of my new rule: NO MORE WATCHING PG-13 HORROR FILMS. Wait for the unrated cut on DVD. I might, see the The Fog though for John Carpenter kitsch value... despite the lack of my Carpenter...

The Exorcist - I hate that version I wish I never saw. The original is pretty cool. I saw it for the first time this year, so I really can't say anything decent about it. The original = better though. The 25th anniversary DVD is also the DVD to get for that documentary with the UNCUT spider walk, without the stupid blood thing... wtf?

Blair Witch - Did I mention that I am a Blair Witch fan?

Sure, the movie wasn't that scary, but it still had the best fake documentaries I've ever seen this side of Guest's work (Curse of the Blair Witch, Burkittsville 5, Shadow of the Blair Witch). And the sequel is LAUGH OUT FUNNY!! Very funny. Almost Evil Dead I funny... far from E.D. II funny though... they tried...

Event Horizon - The thing about Event for me is that it was a GREAT horror film... up until Sam Neil rips his eyes out. Then the movie became suck city. But this was in the time when Paul Anderson didn't make pure crappy movies... he made great movies with a piss ass poor third act; Soldier (stop watching once the father character finds Kurt in the wastelands). Then, he was in a crappy first and second act, awesome third act phase (Resident Evil)... forget Anderson actually... though Mortal Kombat I still rules.

We need a horror movie thread...

I'm prone to over-analyze movies. So I was sitting there with my girlfriend explaining to her that Lucifer is not even a demon, and some other small details.
