Know why "Orko party" is taking so long? Because everytime I try to upload it the video and audio are out of synch... That's not so bad as it's originally a silent film.
However, I've just tried to upload three movie clips from CDs (meaning someone else encoded them) and the audio is out of synch for all of them too. I've tried two different computers (one Mac, one PC) and the same problem each time.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!?!?!?

Are the audio/video out of sync on the master copy you have that you're trying to upload?

What video format are you encoding them to? I've had good results with WMV.

Yeah, they're perfect.
I've been uploading .mov files.

How big is it? As long as it's not like 200 megs, I could probably host it for you...

Okay, AVI, mp4, and mpg don't work...
WMV isn't encoding...
Grrrrrrrr....

I might take up that offer for "Orko Party". It's under 100, but I'm going to try reencoding it again and changing the music track... or take it out entirely!
The other video clips I was uploading were silly things like George Reeves as Clark Kent/Superman selling Frosted Flakes and a Batman (Adam West) commercial. There's not much reason to host them on the site. They really are oddities best left for YouTube...
I'm going to try with Google Video...

All right, that's it, I swear off YouTube forever!
Just in case, can some make sure the video plays correctly?

It plays correctly, although there is an odd part where the children are already talking yet it shows a blank wall and quickly Superman's surprised stare. Besdies that part though, it seems relatively correctly synched.

Yeah, that's supposed to be there. X-Ray vision... cause Superman peeps in on you while you eat breakfast.
The new problem is: google video keeps crashing for me.. This is just not my day.

The synch does seem *slightly* off, but it's hilarious nonetheless.

You mentioned you can't encode the WMV? It may be because your source is a MOV. Try converting from AVI > WMV.
If your source is a DV-quality MOV, then you can probably convert it to a DV-quality AVI without any loss. From there, it's AVI > WMV > YouTube. Not that it isn't still an enormous pain, of course.
Then you can get it up PDQ, OK?

I kind of agree there. I remember in some parts the synching did seem a little off, but I noticed at other times it was spot on. Might be a fault of the actual commercial itself.

This seems to work, but I'm phased out. I'll try again on Thursday.
#UPDATE: DarkMaze, dead right about the .mov -> .avi -> .wmv for YouTube uploads.
