Um, probably a soundtrack song. It might have been a song from "Aliens" or, even sadder, "Josie and The Pussycats"... I still need to buy both those albums.

Eifel 65? Damn, you started late. I can remember like my first 20 or so pretty damn well, but not exactly which was number one. I wanna say it was either Stabbing Westward - Save Yourself, or NIN - Perfect Drug. And of course, I got SO used to the original file sharing systems, that to this day I still have a "Scour Media Agent" folder on my computer, because that's just where I assume things should go when I download them. (1996, we hardly knew ye.)

#edit: the timeframe of the stuff from the other people make me wonder if I'm actually older than a lot of people here (which would be very novel for me as I'm normally the youngest person anywhere I go), or if I was just on the forefront of piracy. I spent a LOT of time on mIRC in middle school though (1992-96), so I wouldn't be surprised if it was the latter

I'm pretty sure it was "Horror Business" by the Misfits, downloaded off of Napster.

I think it was Steve Roach & Vidna Obmana - At the Edge of Everything.

If not that, it was probably some OCRemix, I'm a dork like that.

Napster ruined music downloading by making it too readily accessible to the public Sad

Like I know technical definitions. I only read what they tell me.

But with Napster you were connected to one person.

Not some friggin' orgy with a dozen others praying you had enough sources.

That's what I meant by the P2P comment. What can I say, 1 on 1 lovin' is better than group. Yes, I will you fight you on that, whether in the bedroom or not.

P2P filesharing systems are like communism. They look good on paper but rarely work well in real life, unless you maybe have a huge group of like-minded people and are possibly insane.

(Feel free to flame my ass right outta here, communists!)

Even so, I like p2p better than NOT downloading music.

On topic: I believe the first MP3 I'd ever had was Social Distortion's cover of Ring of Fire.
