One of my all time favorite "sports" as a kid, and a few years ago as an adult. Anyone else miss, like, or currently play kickball either pickup games or in a league? I wish more forumers were near so we could have our own league.

My sister plays in a league out in Denver. I've never heard of anything like that here in CT, though we used to play as little kids.

There are a lot of leagues here in Portland. You should move here.

It is a sport our Young Professionals organization plays here, and A friend of mine, his sister plays in a league in Brooklyn, I would love to play though.

I was actually just in a Charity Kickball tourney 2 weekends ago. It was a lot of fun, we probably would have done better if we didn't have 6 girls and 3 guys on the team though.

For some reason in my city wall ball was more popular, kids would line up to take turns at the wall and basically play sideways pingpong.

I loved kickball as a kid, It would be a blast to get out there and dragon kick a ball again.
Now that you mention it, I miss 4-Square too. Dropping the good ol' Cherry Bomb on some unsuspecting kid.

Our school banned 4-square, because kids would purposely slam the ball as hard as possible into the other kids face. I don't see why I mean this was how the game was supposed to be played right?

We played kickball last year at the church I go to. Had a special Memorial Day weekend picnic. I think we played about 2 innings worth, and the score was something like 24-23.

That's the Cherry Bomb. Jump in the Air and power slam the ball into the ground usually at an angle that will make it bounce back into the face of your opponent while screaming "CHERRY BOMB!"

Speaking of balls to the face, I got in a bit of trouble for organizing an impromptu dodgeball game during recess using basketballs and accidentally beaning a kid square in the nose with a ball thrown as hard as I could chuck it. Wasn't the best thought out plan in retrospect.

I never played kickball because so many kids played, you only got about one at-bat per game.
I was more of a dodgeball and wall-ball guy.

Kickball, wall-ball, dodgeball and 4-square are all awesome. That is all.

Anyone here play buildup? Kind of like tag but with two safe zones across a field/ parking lot and if you were tagged you were basically "zombified" into a tagger and eventually it was a whole lot of kids verse 1. Had a good time with that until I slipped and slid into one of the bases with my head. Fun.

I don't know if it is a PA thing, but growing up in Central PA (Lebanon, Lancaster, Harrisburg Areas) we played a similar game called shadow tag, whereas a shadow of say a tree or builiding was a base, if someone tagged you physically, you were out, but if someone, and this lead to fights, stepped on your shadow you became like you said a Zombie tagger as well

That sounds like it has the potential for trampling.

Trampling is the state sport of Pennsylvania. After deer hunting. And bowling.

Even though I'm young (17) I remember Eagles games at the Vet... Good beer-falling-on-my-head times.

I remember a Giant's fan sitting in the home section at a game back during the Cunningham days, and being thrown off of I think somewhere between the 500 and 700 level onto the section below and almost dying, yet no one saw anything
Back on track, nothing so satisfying as hitting a runner in either a kidney or back of the neck with a kickball as he or she runs to home, even better if male and lands face first mere inches from home

When we did warm up dodge ball for Volleyball we made it a rule that you couldn't hit in the head if you were standing. But kneeling you were open for anything

Did you just infer that if someone is kneeling they are asking for a shot in the face?

I was just saying, if they were on the ground kneeling, expect a bunch of balls to be hurled at their face.
