Holland on the finals.
Wow, this whole match was filled with a lot of awesome spots, especially the ending.

Yeah, I really thought things were gonna shake up there at the end.
They kinda did, just not as much as expected.

Spain wins 1-0 and reaches the final.
Germany didn't seem to get many scoring chances while Spain was constantly around their net. Kind of disappointing after their previous games.

Yeah surprising to see Spain rise to the occasion for the first time and Germany kind of wilted. Should be a good final regardless.

Yeah, and here I though Germany had this Cup in their pocket. That's the best part in soccer, it's pretty unpredictable.
So, my choice for champs are still up. Here's hoping they do get to win it.

What an AWESOME match between Uruguay and Germany. Nobody gave in until the end, and Germany won by turning the tables back.
Oh please, I hope tomorrow's game is great, otherwise this WC is gonna be known as the worst one since Italy '90.

I should be a decent final. And I don't think any other game can match th awfulness of Italy 90

Completely unrelated question, but are own goals "credited" to the player who scored it as if it were a normal goal?
Like that guy who scored 3 own goals in a single game, would that be a hat trick?
What about that guy who scored 149 of them?

Well, even if the final sucks, Uruguai Vs Germany was basically a "final", since so many people were sure they were gonna be the ones on the real final.
Also, the game was gold, and that last shot is gonna haunt Forlan for the rest of his like.
The guy who scores the Own Goal gets credit for it unless it was just an attack shot that sorta bounced on him. According to wikipedia anyways

The match was kinda sub-par, looked more like an episode of WMAC Masters than an actual soccer match.
All things aside, congratulations to Spain. Those guys deserved it. But NOT the fans, those guys are as much of sore losers/winners than average brazilians.

I'll just say Van Pommel is the most retarded player I've ever seen.
I don't like Spain much, but it's still MUCH better than seeing Brazil, France, or motherfucking Italy, win.

Yeah the final was pretty lame and boring, but it finished well and it's always good to see a match finish before it goes to penalties.
Four years until the next one! Go USA!

Well, I kinda expected a bad match, but this was atrocious. I mean, 10+ yellow cards? Is that why the referee got a golden medal, he broke the world record?
And one last thing. You should be happy you got 2nd place and a shiny silver medal, or at least fake it (I can see it would be hard to actually be happy after having just lost).
Receiving the silver medal and then taking it off and putting it in your pocket is NOT acceptable.

Oh yeah I remember that. It made me shout out "HIYA!". doesn't beat the bicicle kick to the face, but it doesn't hurt to try. Oh wait...

the third place game was leagues better than the final IMO.
this final was just boring and full of whining, crying, and flopping. it did pick up in the second half. late in the second half, mind you, and it made for some interesting football, but the first half was just pure crap.

You see, I was going to berate you for using low resolution, chopped up pictures and trying to pass them as Mortal Kombat characters, but them I thought: Oh wait...

This World Cup will be remembered for many things:
- Vuvuzelas
- Thinly-designed balls
- Mediocre refereeing
- Maradona's antics
- That smoking hot paraguayan supporter
- Diving, everywhere
- Arjen Robben curling into a ball
- USA beats England 1-1
- France and Italy being utter dissapointments
- New Zealand being the ONLY unbeaten team
- DeJong pulling a Sweet Chin Music
- Paul the Octopus
Here in Brazil we also have two new pariahs: The coach (Dunga) and that gruff backer Felipe Melo. Those guys will NEVER be considered into big teams ever again, especially the national team.
... and it won't be remembered for this: actual good soccer.

Yeah for the most part, it was better than 2006 and some matches were legitimately fun to watch. It's just a shame the sport itself is so flawed or it could be so much better. A sport that has no interest in being fair or make progressive rules to perfect itself just will never catch on in the US, and that's a shame.
My English wife still berates me for the American newspapers celebrating their draw with England and no matter how much I explain to her that it's a moral victory for an unsupported and unknown American team to draw with the mighty English force, she'll never understand.
