So I had 12 battletech minis all glued and primed and ready for painting. Took them to my buddie's house to battle and got my ass thoroughly handed to me. Later on gravity furthermore compounded my defeat, while walking back to my car to go home I dropped the box they were in. Arms and legs and heads scattered everywhere.
I didn't lose any bits and pieces, but now I have to re glue everything, and I don't want to try to glue over old dried krazy glue. Any ideas about stripping the glue without having to chisel it out of the connection points with a knife?

Oh Blackout I'm so sorry. I hope you can fix them up nicely.
I'm afraid I won't be of too much help...the only thing I can think is of buying commercial glue solvent. I suppose you could get some at a hardware store maybe? I'm not sure what those contain, though, and if they'd harm the minis further.

Ok, so glue is a funny substance. Your best chance at fixing this problem is to identify the glue that was originally used. The exact brand and type if you happen to be aware. In addition what is the material that the battle techs are made of at the bond points?

Instant Krazy Glue, minis are lead free pewter, but they're not as bendy as the pewter you see in cheap jewelry, so there might be something else in there. I'll check the packaging when I get home.

Yeah most sources I've checked with say any stripping is gonna remove the primer, and I don't want to bother repriming, so I'll just have to get out the old magnifying glass and exacto knife and see how good my eye hand coordination really is. If I horribly butcher any fingers due to a slip at least I'll have some krazy glue to seal it up.

Is there any paint on them? I'd try warm water, that's how I was able to get it soft enough to rub off by hand when I glued things as a kid.

That's what I would do as it seems like the easiest and most efficient way to do it; just slice off the old glue.

So pretty much the options are:
A) Work with chemicals that can burn your skin
B) Work with razor sharp knives
Who knew that miniatures were such a deadly hobby?

Don't forget the old lead minis from the 80s!

Mmm, Ral Partha pewter poison pieces!
Seriously, Blackout, your best bet is to use a normal sized (I'd say 0 or 00) brush, depending on the size of the glue spot, and just use acetone if it's regular Krazy glue. Either that or an X-Acto knife. Just drag the blade very lightly over the glue spot. Might take about fifteen minutes or so, but I recently had to re-do a plastic Ork Nob for one of my troop units and so I carefully snapped the arm off of the spot it was glued on and then scraped it off. Good as new and glued a shoota right on there.

Yeah I ended up just scraping it off after soaking it in my girlfriend's nail polish, now I owe her a new bottle.
I don't have any pictures yet, but I'm painting a re seen Marauder II to match Sydlexia.com's color scheme for LOTTEL'S CONTESTORAMA!
The re seen Marauder II looks like this, so no more Harmony Gold Copyright Infringement silliness!
When I was gluing it together I tried to give it a dynamic running pose, but it ended up looking like it was ice skating or Gumby sliding, but that's the way it's staying since I do not want to bother with it anymore, I'll try to borrow someone's camera in a few days so I can post pics of it.

Reminds me of that episode of Rocko's Modern Life where the Dr holds up an x ray of his skull and informs him his mind is filthy.
