I have a surplus Korean War era tatical desk, which looks like that one's grandpa. It made out of steel and wood and weighs a freaking ton. I do not envy the poor grunt who had to lug that around for their CO.

*shudder*
That Han Solo one is indeed awesome in concept, but I'm afraid that it would just be too damn creepy to use irl. Maybe if he didn't look like he was in so much pain...but as it is...eesh...

If only that Han Solo desk was an item in Animal Crossing.

The only one of these that really impresses me for use as an actual desk is the very first one. Built in 5.1 surround and 10 places to put shit? That's far more utilitarian than a desk with built-in fish tank.

That first desk looks like the coolest Rock Band drum kit ever.
The plane desk and the liquid-cooled desk look like something I'd like to have.

I agree its awesome in theory, but I really, really hate the look of it. I'd much rather have one solid desk to work at than a bunch of broken up tables.
The surround sound, however, is truly cool.

Honestly though, for what that desk costs you could probably just buy a desk you like, and then either install your own surround sound system around it, or buy one of those desk chairs that come with speakers in the headrest.

Very true. You could probably actually assemble a pretty admirable approximation of most of these for a fraction of the price, except maybe the Solo one, unless you made the model entirely out of something cheap. (Although, if you encased said cheap model in glass or something, it might not matter.)
I've always wondered how such expensive niche items ever actually turn a profit. These desks are at least ostensibly functional, but things like multi-thousand-dollar character figures and statues baffle me. Not that I WOULDN'T purchase them if I had the money, necessarily, but the core demographic for that sort of thing doesn't tend to have thousands of dollars laying around to burn on things like that. Some do of course, but not the majority, so I don't understand how they make enough money to constantly produce new ones.

You can or at least could by the prop reproduction of Han Solo encased in carbonite. I used to work at a toy store from 1998-2001(when it was bought out and and changed to a gift shop) and they had one of the reproductions on display. It was really expensive though.
