so I've been having this problem for a while now, and I'm not actually sure if its on my end or the site's. Thought I'd post it here to avoid random General forum clutter though.

When I come to the site, I see plenty of topics with the new topic marker on them. But sometimes (I'd say maybe half), when I go into one topic and then leave, or close my browser and come back, ALL the topics are somehow magically marked as not new. This isn't the biggest deal ever, but it does get irritating, as you might imagine. I have no idea what causes it, and have been unsuccessful in my attempts to cause it on purpose. (And yes I am SURE I'm not accidentally hitting the "mark all topics/forums read" button.)

What gives?

When you leave the forum (asuuming you don't have auto login on) it automatically marks all the topics read

That's not true, hacker. I've left the site and came back and had my unread topics still unread. But if you ever double click the index button, the site marks all topics read. I think something else does it too.

Yeah, I've come back and had them fine too.

I wonder if its the index thing. I'll bet it is, and that I've just been careless hitting it. I'll be more conscientious, and see if that helps. Thanks Syd. And thanks for the thought, Hack. Smile

You can leave and come back as long as you don't close your browser. Once you close your browser and come back then it's basically logging you in again automatically, at which point anything that was new at the time of your previous login is no longer new.

Jeebus is correct as far as I can tell.
