Just figured I'd share with our many Magic players that the following cards are almost definitely being reprinted in Alara Reborn:
Terminate (100% Definite)
Backlash
Putrid Warrior
and most importantly, Meddling Mage

Proof? Except for Terminate, which is confirmed, that sounds like yet more multicolor cards that the players want to see back that I don't think design would ever bring in. Particularly Meddling Mage.
I can't see them doing that many reprints in a small set regardless.

Conflux is a small set and had 4 reprints and 5 functional reprints, so they definitely can. And the proof is in the Orb of Insight. We're not 100% yet, it's very, very close.

Looks like Salvation was 1 for 3 with the Orb (not counting Terminate)
Of the 3, though, I sure as heck wouldn't have picked Meddling Mage.

It's the best set in a while, especially for casual players. My set review will be up soon, but gold cards can be more powerful, so basically the entire set gets to be more powerful on average than regular cards.

It also makes for slower decks, if you're only running gold.

Plus some of those gold cards are hybrid gold, so maybe one solid black mana needed then one green or red, etc.

Maybe, I'm getting old and miss the good old days....
1st turn. Lay a mountain. Lay a black lotus, lay a mox ruby. Use lotus, play Chain Lightning, tap ruby and moutain play two Lightning Bolts. 12 damage on first turn...
Sigh.

Yeah but see no one wants to play with you when you do 12 damage on turn one...

I'd just like to say that cracking packs of Alara Reborn is pretty cool. The packs being all gold is really noticable, despite the basic land and token/tip card. The artwork is all fantastic too.
If there was every a set I NEEDED to make sure I got in all foils, this is it. I can't even describe how amazing the foils are.

Is it just me, or have the alternate art on prerelease/release cards been terrible as of late? Prerelease Malfegor was trash, release Obelisk was boring, Broodmother Dragon...well, the regular art looks bad too, but Knight of New Alara's alternate art is terrible compared to the regular art.

Any idea how drafting this set would go? Seems like a nightmare.

Well, constructed was a blast. Syd and I both thought we had weak, clunky decks upon building them, but they were surprisingly fast and effective (well, for Syd anyway, I got beat soundly.) Of course that was going on three boosters of Shards and three of Reborn, with one of each of Shards, Conflux and Reborn it might be a bit different.

You mean Sealed, I take it...and yeah, this. Though there really were no viable early plays, the stuff you could drop around turn 3-4 was disgusting, and there was enough fixing out there to let you play your stuff well (the double land-cycling creatures, in particular, stood out for me).

There are a lot of viable early plays. Deathgreeter, Akrasan Squire, and Wild Nacatl for 1 drops, all 5 outlanders from Shards, all 5 blades (the hybrid mana commons that get bigger if you have a multicoloured permanent) from alara reborn, rip-clan crasher, that 2/2 vigilence haste ceredon, and certainly others.
And Zarak, I think the release artwork for Knight of New Alara is a LOT better, though neither Dragon Broodmother artwork is that great.

Chain Lightning is super noobish.
And Type 2 doesn't have to be slow.
Turn 1, Mistvein Borderpost
Turn 2, Esper Stormblade
Turn 3, double Edge of Divinity on the Stormblade
Swing for 9 in the air.
Also, Gatherer FUCKING SUCKS NOW. It was a lot more user-friendly before. And give me all the fucking results on one page, thanks.

I know it's 3 damage for R, but it's sorcery speed. I'd rather play Incinerate.
