"The Topps Company announced today that WizKids will immediately cease operations and discontinue its product lines.

Scott Silverstein, CEO of Topps, said “This was an extremely difficult decision. While the company will still actively pursue gaming initiatives, we feel it is necessary to align our efforts more closely with Topps current sports and entertainment offerings which are being developed within our New York office.”

Upon notifying our partners, Topps will immediately pursue strategic alternatives so that viable brands and properties, including HeroClix, can continue without noticeable disruption. To that end, WizKids will continue supporting Buy it By the Brick redemptions for Arkham Asylum, and the December Organized Play events for HeroClix.

For consumer announcements, please refer to www.wizkidsgames.com over the coming days for further information."

Anyone wanna buy a multimillion dollar game company?

I'd buy it. They got some sweet licensing deals:

Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Star Wars, etc.

You're telling me, you can't make money off of those?!?

Yeah, HeroClix seemed to be doing real well, I was a bit surprised at this.

GearsClix? As in Gears of War? if so that seems more like that whole subset that has stuff like AvP, Halo, Etc.

Doesn't surprise me at all. We carry Heroclix, and barely. There's really almost no market for those "clix" things, and most of the market that exists for it isn't as a game.

Ah, I remember playing Heroclix. It was fun, but I imagine you'd have to spend all kinds of money to really get into it.

maybe it is. I just saw something about it in a comic shop about a year ago.

and AVP is part of horroclix, and I thought halo was it's own thing too. I know the halo pieces aren't interchangeable with heroclix or horrorclix.

haha, I remember pissing my brother off because he'd drop all sorts of cash into it, getting ridiculous pieces, and I always used some random winter soldier piece, a wasp, and a daredevil piece that came in a starter set, and I used to beat him royally.

Wow, I got out of the game (and back into Magic) before Winter Soldier was even molded (right around Xplosion and the 2nd DC set). I even bought 2 packs of IndyClix, wound up with an Experienced Rasputin, some female Judge, and a Veteran Nazi guy from Danger Girl as the best pieces.

I tried it when it first came out, then got back into magic, then about a year ago picked up a bunch of pieces to try to get my brother interested in something that wasn't television. I played it back when it was just the marvel license.

The tabletop game is a niche thing and the novels are kind of meh. I think they screwed themselves over with Battletech when they stopped making Mechwarrior games.

That'd be awesome. You'd be able to put your starving castaway up against another one to see who can knock out the other and take their coconuts first.

Check it out, some of the dudes from FASA started a new company and bought the rights to Mechwarrior, maybe they'll make a new sim one day. Surprised

I want OregonTrailClix or ChessClix please. Both of those ideas would have made millions, too bad those idiots didn't think of that. HA!

I DEMAND another Mechwarrior simulator, something along the lines of Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries, which was the best one.

There's two of them I think, and they're both hard.
