I had an idea last week, and it's possible someone already had done it, but basically it's this:

I want to make a quiz/time-waster/whatever that determines your Advanced Dungeons & Dragon stats (MUST BE 2ND EDITION RULES) from questions it asks you. I know there's a popular quiz out there that determines your alignment, but I think it would be funny if there was one that gave you your constitution, charisma, THAC0, base armor class, base attack strength, saving throws, and all that great stuff. So basically, the relevant questions are these:

1) Has anyone already done this?
2) If not, how in the hell would one go about figuring this shit out?
3) Who wants to help?

Well, the strength and Intelligence stats would be the easiest to determine.

Since, the Strength charts in 2nd edition had max press scores, which you could translate to real world ability. Also, I don't remember where I read it, but I remember the Intelligence score could be figured as your IQ / 10. (ie A 140 IQ would be a 14 INT score)

Not sure about the other stats.

Um, well, if a relative D&D n00b can help, I'd be happy to do what I can; it sounds like a lot of fun.

Out of curiosity though, why 2nd edition rules?

Because they got rid of THAC0 after 2nd edition, and THAC0 is the greatest D&D concept of all-time.

What the hell is THACO. How do I acquire it and what can it do for me?

THAC0 stands for To Hit Armor Class Zero. In the original D&D setup, the lower your armor class was, the higher your defense was. Armor Class Zero, though not the best armor class, was a very high armor class, and was a baseline of sorts.

So if your THAC0 was 16, you'd need to roll a 16 or a higher to hit Armor Class Zero, and you'd need a 17 or higher to hit Armor Class -1.

Base Armor Class, barring any sort of natural benefit would always be 10.
Attack bonus, saves, etc. would all be derived from class level. I know there are class/race quizzes out there, but I don't touch anything 2E with a 10 foot pole except for Ravenloft material. And good luck finding them given that 3.0/.5 material has been online for almost a decade.

Yes, but 2nd Edition has been online since before most people knew what the hell an internet was (1989). The first users of the internet were geeks...

Geeks play D&D.

I meant in terms of finding the existing class stuff, most search stuff would be polluted with much more 3E and 4E material, than 2E.

That's why you search for AD&D or Advanced, because they dropped that with 3rd and 4th.

I'll see if Jeebus's store has the old books and if they do, I'll scan the rules.

Try scribd.com. I found the 2nd edition rules there.
