Well, it seems that they have begun finalizing the cast for the upcoming Green Lantern feature film. Ryan Reynolds will be taking on the lead role.

Honestly I am still holding my breath on this, I don't blame him for what they did to Deadpool (the problem there was terrible writing, not acting). Besides I would take him over all the other apparent actors he beat out. Thoughts?

Ryan Rynolds has the personality and the physicality to play a superhero. Hell, he was grown in a vat to play some buff wisecracking superhero. Green lantern is as good as any other choice.

Wha? Am I totally out of touch? Does this mean the Deadpool movie isn't happening after all? Or are they doing both?

they're still doing both. just not sure what the schedule is for both movies since one is DC and another is Marvel. as well as the fact that we are still waiting for a ton of other superhero movies to appear. i think they want to release a Justice League movie before they release a Green Lantern movie. i could be wrong though

Phew, that makes me happy. This guy is gonna make a solid career out of playing comic book characters I think. I hope anyway. Good for him.

I remember reading a few years ago that Jack Black wanted to be the Green Lantern and was actually seriously considered for the role. When he saw all the negative fanboy buzz online though, he decided he loved the character too much to potentially ruin him and backed away from the role.
Honestly though, Green Lantern is just a guy with a ring. There's no reason Jack Black couldn't be a Green Lantern. He couldn't be Hal Jordan, Alan Scott, or Kyle Rayner (or John Stewart - duh), but he could be the 80s version of Guy Gardner; he was kind of a dick. Black would still have to lost some weight though.
Anyway, Ryan Reynolds could be good as the Lantern.

He'd make a better Flash, as Wally West.

Does Jordan really have that kind of sense of humour? I see Reynolds' personality perfect to play someone like Deadpool, but Hal Jordan? I think he'd be a much better Guy Gardner personally.

Hal Jordon? Nah. Kyle Rayner? Much more likely.

I actually don't really Ryan Reynolds as a typical superhero. I'm all for him being a hero in a movie, but he is too cheesy for a spandex wearing superhero. For as bad as the movie was, I think he would have helped out the Indiana Jones IV if he had taken Shia LaBeouf's part.

Maybe if he worked out and got fit or something like that, Phil Lamarr would be an excellent live-action John Stewart. YEAH!!!

I just realized. Booster Gold. Not a big name but one that Ryan could nail and has the potential for a good movie.
Phil LeMarr certainly has the voice.

Indeed!
Also, I'm relieved to see that Ryan Reynolds beat Justin Timberlake for the role. Thank God! If Timberlake got the role, I'd be depressed as all hell. Not even seeing Halle Berry in another X-Men movie would hurt me as much.

Storm really deserved better treatment, she has always been one of my favorite X-Men (great leader, better than Cyclops IMO in many cases). Halle Berry didn't even attempt the pseudo African accent which is so characteristic of Storm.

Angela Bassett would've been AWESOME as Storm in my opinion.

That's what I've always said. As for Uhura, I could at least see her at Storm durign her de-aged and de-powered section, where she had to focus more on martial arts and being a leader. But some people who don't know the comics well would probably gripe about her being black and powerless.

Well duh! It wasn't until she got struck by lightning and that she turned darker and gained powers. EVERYONE knows that.

I really like Ryan Reynolds. I think he can pull off Hal Jordan.
