It was actually pretty good, but I'm not sure what kind of impact it would have. The intentions are there, but there needs to be more behind it.
Why is there so much Simon's Quest?

This has to be broadcast.
Every thing this guy said was the truth. I'd like to see any, ANY, anti-game person say something after hearing this.

I hate this kind of crap. Don't blame the possibly bad parenting, the fact the farther had a gun or a number of other possibly contributing factors just blame the video game. Give me a break.

Please read my  :
The kid was mentally ill. 18 hours of game playing a day strikes me as mental illness. How could a sane person spend that much time without eating, sleep, urination and basic human contact? And he probably had other reasons to lash out at (i.e. shoot) his parents. If he was anything like I am now, he used the game as an escape from the shit his parents were (most likely) putting him through, and when they tried to take that escape away, he lashed out incredibly violently.
The parenting there has to be awful. Keeping a loaded gun and telling the kid where it is, letting him stay in his room for 18 hours, and the like are all definite signs of awful parenting.
In the end, though, all mediums have gone through a stage like this, but it has lasted a little longer for games because we still have plenty of old idiots and the uninformed likes of Tobey Grumet around. But it will end, as it has for comic books, normal books, television, and radio.
Of course, maybe he's right and the Halo shooter, as well as the Allen Gann case and the Columbine kids, were spurned on by Doom and Halo and whatever the fuck Gann was playing. Right. [/u]

Wow . . . I'm fucking speechless. I must spread this to my fellow gamers. WE ALL MUST SPREAD THIS TO OUR FELLOW GAMERS!
He's absolutely right, why the hell are we Gamers trying to reason or defend against 'believers' who have nothing to use against us. Facts need to stop being overlooked and start being used!

What sucks is that all the racist people on Xbox Live wouldn't stand up for gaming. I don't see those kind of people as gamers, they're just hicks that bought an Xbox so they can play the new Madden and Call of Duty.

You know, if I was a parent, I'd be a hell of a lot more worried about my kid going online and talking to a bunch of screaming, racist asswipes in multiplayer games. When I have kids, they won't be allowed to play online until they're in high school.

About time someone brought up the idiocity of lowering to the censor's lever and instead engage them with knowledge!
And it's true! Why the hell bitch about the casual gamer? In retropective, we were casual gamers at one point of our lives.
Now if only people would actually listen... ;-;

Bumped for relevance.
So I'm watching Showtime (because we managed to get a free month as an apology from DirecTV after harrassing us about payment and discovering we already did) and I noticed Penn & Teller's Bullshit is on. I have never been able to see this show before. The topic they covered? Do violent video games really function as murder simulators?
The even interviewed Jack Thompson as one point, but the part that most intrigued me involved them letting a 9 year old kid who loves his military FPSes fire a pretty powerful rifle (overseen by both a safety officer and the gamer/marine it belonged to). You can see the results of this around 4:30 and near the end of the clip you can see the kid's reaction as one of the last scene before the credits. I felt sorry for him, but it really counters the murdersim theory.
