Inspired by the 'small changes to history' thread, what events would you like to go back in time and witness if you could? Not intervene, you understand--just watch.
I'd like to watch the lightbulb go on over Newton's head as his understanding of gravity solidifies.
The Sermon on the Mount
JFK's inauguration speech
Raising the flag at Iwa Jima
Someone discovering gunpowder for the first time (think of the lulz!)
The seige of Troy
Neil Armstrong walks on the Moon
Number one of course would *have* to be the Big Bang...I've read so much about all the amazing things that happened in billionths of seconds when all that mass exploded, and god dammit I'd give anything to see how it was.
How about you?

Hilarious no doubt, but blowing shit up > being bonked on the head when it comes to humor potential.

Gettysburg Address probably.
Also, seeing the Battle of Thermopylae would be kind of awesome.

I'd like to see some now-defunct/dead musicians play (Hendrix, Smiths, etc).
I'd like to see Jordan at the dunk contests.
I'd like to see Evil Dead 2 on a big screen.

The final morning of Woodstock '69, Hendrix standing out there among the weaning morning crowd, playing the SHIT out of his guitar.
'I Have A Dream'
Watching The Beatles on Ed Sullivan (sure as Hell beats seeing 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' and 'Umbrella' when they premiered)
Seeing my ancestor Malcolm Keith fatally stab the King of Normandy, stick 3 fingers into the stab wound, and trace three bloody lines down his shield, thus cementing Keith history.

Jesus dying and resurrecting.
I would like to bring a fully charged camera with me along with a DNA testing kit.
Just for better explanation, I am not looking to disprove religion here. If you believe in Christ then you would assume that I would witness him be killed and resurrect with no changes to the Bible. However, if you don't believe, you would assume that I would go and watch a poor guy get killed and a witness a group of hopeful people embellish his life's story.
I would hope that the better documentation of these events would lead to further peace and prosperity rather than continued war and depression.

1. One of Pink Floyd's original live performances of The Wall
2. The JFK assassination, so I could comprehensively deny or confirm the conspiracy theories.
3. Any of the shows from the 1992 Metallica/GN'R tour except for the one where Metallica caught fire and Axl flipped out.
4. The death of Kurt Cobain.
5. Jesus Christ's "Sermon on the Mount"
6. The invention of Donkey Kong
7. Reagan's first inauguration.
8. The 1918 World Series
9. The 1969 NBA World Championship Series

I would have liked to witness Moses parting the red sea, and I would come prepared with a surfboard or something of the like.
That would be rad, even though I don't surf and would most likely drown.
I think I would also like to see some of the many Civil War battles that were fought all over mine and surrounding counties. I find small cannonballs and shit all the time in my yard and at work, it must have been intense.
I guess that's it, other than maybe being there at the dawn of Psychadelia, just to make fun of people.

- Sermon on the Mount - Glad to see so many people agree with me here. This would be my top choice.
- Moses parting the Red Sea (Or whatever sea he might have really parted)
- Battle of Actium where Augustus defeated Marc Antony
- The Battle of Badon Hill, to see if there was any sort of "King Arthur" on the Britons' side
- Boston Massacre
- George Washington's Inauguration
- Hitler's Suicide
- Reagan's speech at Normandy in 1984, commemorating the 40th Anniversary of D-Day (Was actually 4 at this time, but couldn't actually remember it of course).

Most of the things I'm thinking of involve seeing obscure bands perform live...

The Sermon on the Mount would indeed be awesome, except we'd likely all need our Bibles to translate Aramaic.

Heh, good point. Hopefully universal translators are invented around the same time as time machines.

Frankly, I don't think it'd matter. Something like that, if it was even half of what people imagine it to be, transcends language and culture.
But, you do have a point.

I would want to see virtually everything from Genesis, Exodus, and the 4 Gospels.
I'd also like to see what was going on during the dark ages.
Any significant moments in the lives of my ancestors.
The Roswell crash.
The original productions of various plays including, but not limited to, Oedipus Rex, Antigone, Macbeth, Julius Caesar, Doctor Faustus.
The composing of a piece by each of the famous Composers. Mozart, Pachebel, Verdi, etc.
These lists could go on forever.
