So Year One, the new Jack Black film opens today.
Is anyone going to see it? It's the summer and I've got nothing else to do, but wanted some other opinions on it before I decide to go or not.
If anyone DOES see it, or saw it at a midnight showing or something, how was it?
EDIT: So now I've seen it.
It's one of Jack Black's better comedies. I'm not a fan of Michael Cera, he was average throughout. Juno Temple is a cute new actress to watch for. The other supporting actors really did a good job with the movie adding onto Black's humor, or just being funny without him.
Stay after the credits for bloopers.

What the fuck is this even about? Are they cavemen? Are they alive in Roman times? The trailer makes no sense.

I agree, the time frames look all over the place.
But from what I saw, it seemed like it would be a pretty solid performance from JB.
I fucking hate Michael Cera..... >_>

I saw the full preview for it when I went to see "The Proposal." (Very good movie, btw. Corney as hell as all romantic comedies are of course, but this one is far better than most. Ryan Reynolds is golden, and Betty White is great too. And you gentlemen, if you're Sandra Bullock fans, will highly appreciate a certain scene. Great date movie.)
Ahem, back on topic. From what it looks like, the story is all over the place--everywhere from the Garden of Eden (...where Cain and Able are hanging out with Adam and Eve...not sure how that works) to cavemen to Bronze Age stuff. Basically the hell with continuity. I will say that the full-length preview looked quite a bit funnier than the short one they're running on TV. (Although if Ebert is to be believed, its one of those cases where all of the really funny stuff is front-loaded in the preview, so I dunno.)

She does indeed. The NSFW bits are covered of course since its PG-13, but they aren't covered by very much and she looks *damn* good (and not just for her age, either.) At least I thought so.
I very much appreciated the fact that Mr. Reynolds was nice enough to extend the same courtesy for the ladies in the audience, as well.

I would be remiss if I didn't take every opportunity that presents itself to say just how much I hate Michael Cera.
"I'm so awkward and harmless. I say sentence fragments under my breath and stutter as indications of just how insecure and safe I am."
Fuck you, Michael Cera. Try playing a new character. ANY new character.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us. |

Give the kid a break, I think he's kinda funny, although the schtick certainly gets old.
He's not the only douche ball to play the awkward teenage role, it's very common and I'm sure you and I and any other twenty something males aren't the crowd he's trying to please anyways.

Hey, Mel Brooks already made this movie, it was called History of the World Part One and it had better actors and funnier jokes...

This is a Harold Ramis movie, isn't it? Most anything he does is really good, so I'll see this even though I'm not much of a Jack Black fan anymore.

I think Jesse James' current TV show should be retitled "Jesse James Doesn't Love Sandra Bullock Very Much".
Because obviously, he doesn't. If he did, he wouldn't try to kill himself every week.
