if I own and beat the Gamecube version? I really loved it on the gamecube, but I do't want to have to shell out $50 for the full experience.

No. The gamecube version was the full experience They took the gamecube version and made it wii compatable. I'd say save your money for when the first true wii Zelda comes out which will hopefully be before they phase the wii out.

Apart from being playable with the wiimote, they only mirrored everything. West is East and East is West. North and South are still the same.
Is that vertical or horizontal mirroring?

Yeah, both Super Paper Mario and Twilight Princess were both originally planned as GCN titles. And both ended up getting pushed back to give the Wii some early core titles. Ironically, the GCN version of Twilight Princess didn't come out until AFTER the Wii version, effectively burying it.
Another game originally planned for a North American Gamecube release, Radio Allergy, ended up on the Wii as part of the Ultimate Shooting Collection.

Super Paper Mario is pretty damn fun. It's more action-oriented than the other two Paper Mario titles, and it has TWO pits of 100 Trials!

The little bit I played at a buddy's place a while back was enjoyable, but I bought MP3 instead and never looked back.
I love the Mario RPGs though, just started playing through Partners in Time on the DS and cannot get over how well put together it is.
