Seriously, no thread for this? Even though it's the funniest movie that's came out in the last few years?
C'mon guys, has anyone else seen it?

I have to get some money together first, but I've been planning on seeing it in the theater since I saw the trailer.

Everybody at the restaurant I work at is talking about this movie. I'll probably wait for the DVD though since it is a pain for me to get to the theater where they are showing it and ticket prices, even matinee tickets are pretty expensive. I plan on seeing it at some point though.

I've seen it and thought it was hilarious... No thread when I saw it because I also saw, that same night for the first night, "One Night At McCool's", so my memory wa sa bit hazy of The Hangover.
Definitely see it. It has a cool "Dude Where's My Car?" premise.

I've heard nothing but good things about it, but I will not watch this movie. I cannot stand people who are missing teeth. Missing teeth are #1 on the list of things that gross me out and things I would hate to have happen to me. Obviously, one of the guys in this movie loses a tooth, and I've been told it's pretty blatant throughout the whole film. So this is not a film I will ever ever watch. Not even if you paid me $1,000,000 dollars.

Is this a fucking joke? It's the funniest movie to come out in years, AND since it's from the makers of Old School you know that they had to put the Dan Band in!

No, I'm dead serious. If don't have the money for a facade, then fucking die. The only thing that grosses me out more than missing teeth are gold teeth.
Also, Old School is really fucking overrated. The only good thing about it is that led to better R-rated comedies like the Wedding Crashers and The 40 Year-Old-Virgin.

It was funny, yes. But I wouldn't call it the funniest movie in years.

Yea, but I cannot think of any particularly funny movies to come out within the last two years or so.

I'll be damned. Syd's a dendropophobic! Although honestly, Syd, if worst came to worst, they have caps/replacement teeth now that look just like the real thing. *shrug*
As for the movie...I hadn't planned on seeing it, 'til I saw the clip Ed Helms showed on The Daily Show. That sold me.
Also, is Old School seriously that funny? I was vaguely aware of it when it came out, but had no particular interest in seeing it. If its that good, though, I'll give it a rental.

Yeah, and I'm fine with that. Even if they don't look great, at least put forth the effort. I just don't want to see holes where teeth should be.

Old School's not that funny. There's some decent jokes in there, but the pacing is rather terrible, pretty much exactly like the pacing in a typical 1980s comedy. There are long segments where nothing laugh out loud funny happens and you wonder why the fuck you're watching it. Kinda like Animal House. Or Revenge of the Nerds.

You know, I remember this game I played at our computer lab in kindergarten/1st grade that they made us play a couple of times a week. It had a bunch of math problems, and a set of teeth, and you had to make the set of teeth eat the correct answer to the question. If you got it right, great. If you got it wrong...the teeth cracked. If you messed up enough, It started missing teeth. Ironically I have no problem with actual people missing teeth, but to this day memories of that game make me slightly sick to my stomach. I'm honestly convinced its one of the reasons I hate math so much. *shudder*

Watch any movie over and over and it will lose its appeal.
Allow an R rated movie to be watched over and over on Comedy Central and it will lose its appeal.
Have kids who are younger than you fall in love with a movie years after it came out because they just saw it for the first time and now it is their fad, and it will lose its appeal.
Old School was a great movie that deserves the credit it got, but it is easy to hate on now that so much out there seems so similar.

Old School is terribly paced? How about 40 Year Old Virgin? That movie could easily have 30 minutes cut, and there's no reason for an extended version that's almost 2½ hours to exist.

I would say I like Old School a tad better than 40 Year Old Virgin. The only thing I can say bad about either of the two is that both seem too long and drawn out. I definitely laughed out loud more at Old School than the latter, as many of the jokes in 40 Year Old Virgin heavily rely on Steve Carrells delivery and facial expressions instead of actual funny dialogue.
Also, Wedding Crashers funnier? That movie was beyond awful, it's the kind of shit my 16 year old sister watches.

When I saw Old School for the first time I was like 12, I didn't really care for it. Maybe some of the jokes went over my head but I had been told how amazing it was and it just didn't live up to the hype for me.

I'm can't stand, amongst other things, the current crop of comedies. They annoy me to no end and I wish they would stop being made.

Alot of comedies these days lack the wit of the old stuff, like Mel Brooks, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Airplane, etc. But yeah, I agree.

Here's Old School in a nutshell:
1. Like a goddam magic show, ready to double team your girlfriend
2. Earmuffs
3. You're my boy, Blue!
Craig Kilborn isn't funny in it. Jeremy Piven isn't funny in it. Luke Wilson isn't funny in it. The entire movie is carried by Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn, and neither one is at the top of their game.

Saw it. Fucking loved it. If it helps, Syd, the guy doesn't just not have a tooth for no reason. It's (kind of) a plot point. He starts off with his tooth.

Saw it opening night, it was pretty damned funny, even if a few of the jokes were really predictable. The herpes joke at the beginning came from a mile away, but other than that it was great. What really made it for me was the ending credits. For those who haven't seen the movie, this will sound like a bad thing, but if you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about.
Also, is it weird that I air-drummed to Phil Collins at the exact moment Mike Tyson did?

You know, the end credits were hilarious, but I almost wish they hadn't shown it. I just thought they'd keep the mystery.
Still a great flick though.
