Just came out today.

Believe it or not, I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, it's motherfucking Majora's Mask, but on the other hand, the VC technical people haven't exactly been translating their N64 games very well. Example, in Starfox64, when you played it on the N64 sometimes the visuals would lag due to an overload of sorts. Thus, they adjusted the audio accordingly, but for some reason on the VC emulator, that problem doesn't happen, thus the credit sequence audio and video was out of sync. Normally shit like that doesn't bother me, but it had never occured to me how cinematic it was until seeing the audio and visual out of sync.

Another thing that I noticed was that, if anybody bought the Zelda collector's edition for the Gamecube, (which had Zelda 1, 2, OoT, and MM), would notice that Majora's Mask would freeze. Considering that game's oddball saving system, freezing is NOT something you want the game to be doing.

Now when I bought OoT and Zelda 1 for the VC, I couldn't help but notice they were imported directly from that Gamecube edition! I noticed this because on the Zelda 1 title screen it says 1988-2003, which is when it came out, and on OoT, the Islamic symbols which were found on blocks, doors and such, were replaced by some other symbol.

So all of this leads me to fear that Nintendo just went ahead and put stalling Majora's Mask onto the VC! Although then again, the trusting side of me feels that Nintendo would have put this game on the VC long ago if they weren't gonna bother working the kinks out of it yet.

I rather they would've released DK64 or Smash Bros.

Eh, I still have my friend's copy of that game, so until he gets that game back, I might not download it.

On the other hand, that made a pretty good milestone release. (Wait, was it their 300th Virtual Console release?)

Don't know, but I'm sick of them releasing classic games only because the number of release is psychologically satisfying.

I wonder why Nintendo doesn't simply release all of their first and second-party titles at once. I can understand third-party titles, as they need licensing from those companies, but why first and second-party titles? Confused

Second-party is when another developer makes a game, but it's produced and only for Ninty.

Breaking fucking news.

This game, according to the "popular titles" section of the shopping channel, is officially the highest selling Virtual Console game of all time.

I repeat, this game has been downloaded more than Super Mario Bros. 3.

Hope you learn your lesson Nintendo.

Meh, just wait until they get their shit together and release Earthbound. Another top 1, guaranteed. I mean, we Europeans want to know where Ness and Lucas came from.

You should totally check out the IRC channel.
While you're at it, go check out my band, Her Majesty's Heroines.

Super Mario Bros. 3 has finally regained it's throne as the #1 most popular VC title, but MM is holding strong at #2.

How do they figure out the ratings for this list? What did a bunch of nerds see that MM was #1 and be like "Whoops we better buy 1 few more copies of SMB3"?

There's a patch that adds the slowdown back into Starfox 64. Go to the download page, and it'll probably say something about updating.

Meh. Majora's Mask didn't get enough respect when it came out.

It would be a wonderful idea if, instead of releasing the games over VC, they remade Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.

It'd be a nice oppurtunity for them to, oh, I don't knwo, ADD THE TRIFORCE TO OCARINA OF TIME?! I spent years looking for that son of a bitch...

Anyway, Majora's Mask will probably take back the lead soon enough. It had a lot of devoted followers.
