After "co-hosting" about 9 AMVs on my youtube account, I finally MADE one.

Please comment on it, I'm working on a second. Of special note are some cameos I made with these forums in mind.

Edit: I've posted my 2nd AMV, one I'm much happier with now that I understand how to split clips up. I think it's a lot more kinetic too.

It was fun, and the music worked well. There was some good timing of action to music, particularly early on.

I'd suggest taking an even more active approach to the editing in future -- cut it faster and keep it kinetic. It felt as though there were long, unedited stretches straight from the show/movie.

I look forward to the next'n.

Thanks, but do you think you could post a rating or comments on youtube as well? Smile

I'm probably going to make my first few AMVs with the 12 episodes I've got of the series, my only other decent source video to work with would be the 6 Rurouni Kenshin AMVs, and the movies for Fullmetal Alchemist and Rockman.exe.

I like that second one even better! Loved the action sequences during the more energetic parts of the song.

Very Happy Laughing Thanks, don't expect this "release schedule" to be a regular thing, I just came up with the Kravitz song working well while I was doing the first one.

I liked this new one better than the other, the improvement shows in the edits. Smile

Just a few notes I had:
The "strawberry kittens" edits felt kinda long.
I'm not a big fan of repetitive footage in fan vids, but I know other people like 'em.
There's a few "sloppy edits" (meaning single frames of the next shot before/after an edit). Just gotta watch out for those; they are hard as heck to catch!

I do know WMM is a pain in the rear to use... as least for me. For doing these videos with it, you have my compliments. Cool

Regarding each point:
1. I wanted to make each "descriptor line" (dishes, night spots, kittens, dancing)'s clip stay as long as the audio went.
2. The series is only 12 episodes long. So my clip access was limited; I think the fight against Albedo in the final episode was the closest I could find to KOS-MOS "dancing" heh. There's not a single instance of strawberries or cats in the series, so I decided to get creative, indeed noting to try and avoid the same image (at least the rest was animated footage) each instance.
3. I appreciate the compliments. And yeah, the sloppy edits can probably be attributed to using WMM. What program do you usually use?

I LOVE your creativity for the "strawberry kittens" lyric. The edits just kinda hang there for my MTV gen ass. I'm just a little too used to quick edits. And having enough footage is ALWAYS a problem with me too... unless I do a video about an entire series (e.g.Twin Peaks (13 min music video, ouch :O) Those people who edited the stocks we draw from, have the gall to splice their shots/scenes in less/more time than WE need... bastards... Evil

I use a Mac for my film stuff, so for my fan vids, I usually use iMovie... unless it's complicated, then it's Final Cut. Final Cut is a pain and a half to use to sinc up several shots to a song, however, the multiple video tracks can be a blessing and it's great for original movie editing. iMovie is much more simple for fanvids because the steps are: import the song, splice your shots using a leader of black, and then plug in the footage for each marker. The problems occur with the footage "bin" for iMovie. It's frustrating at times to find what you need (of course, tedious work is another drawback Wink ).
