At what point do you become a "vet" here?

Here they are called "regs" on other boards it's "vet(eran)". How long must you be frequenting and posting the boards before you are widely considered a vet here?

I was going to make a thread about being here for a year but fogot. So I've been the Panda with the same avatar and same "sexual harassmant panda" title for over a year.

Also, just a curious question, out of the regulars who has had the same avatar for the longest? I would change but the whole panda schtick seems to have become part of my identity here.

I'd say you become a reg here about the same time you worry about your identity being impinged by an online avatar change.

I'm pretty sure Me, Syd, Spanky, Jeebus and Samantha McPoopenstein have always had the same avatar. I think I changed mine for a day once as a RegalSin tribute.

I've been here for a year and I haven't gained any respect. On the other hand, people who came later just got over with the 'vets' faster, probably by posting everyday, everywhere, cleverly.
So, I'm not the right guy to say what people need to be a 'reg/vet'.

Close to two years since registering, I tend to come and go for long periods. Don't know if that counts as being a vet or not.

I don't know where the 'vet' line is either. I've made my first year here just recently, but I don't think that's long enough.

Depending on the site, I think the biggest factor is how long you have been there compared to how long the site has been there. For some here, that's like day 1. I'm very new compared to that, so I may need to gain another year or two before any label of 'vet' comes to me.

I am a "regular" though, posting often whenever I get online. I just don't have the age factor of a vet.

Terms like 'vet' are elitist. The Elite is an American Dream. Know your enemy.

When I think of vets, I think of only a handful of people on the site. It doesn't really matter to me as long as you don't have your head up your own ass all the time and persist in doling out idiocy in whatever thread or chat room you decide to show your face in. If you avoid the aforementioned behavior, then you're at least okay in my book, vet or not.

RIP Hacker.

I see vets as people who have name recognition(GOOD recognition...) on the site, like Val, Zarak, Spanky, Rycona, etc.

Dammit. I changed mine, although just a recolor and words added.

I think to be a vet you have to have been posting consistently since 2006, as cattivo is widely considered a vet and thats about the year he showed up. Your post quality also has to be notable and ideally admirable, though in the late vet FNJ's case, not always.

Who cares. New members shouldn't have to spend the rest of eternity playing catch-up cause they registered later. Its the post quality that matters.

I would just say someone who's been here "long enough". I don't think there's an exact time... You'd just know.

Also, I forgot how avas and sigs I've had the whole time at this place. I know me, FNJ, Char and Murdar changed those like clothes.

Four years is the official line. Once you have been on the forums for 4 years, you are considered a vet.

I still have two months to go SadSadSad

I hope you change your clothes more often than that.

If you have to create a thread like this, you're not a vet. Honestly, I don't even know if there's a time requirement. The biggest thing is the quality of your posts, starting from the day you join the forums. Honestly, here are the people are consider regulars or veterans or whatever on this site (Also, I don't know where the term "regulars" came from, because I haven't heard that on this site at any point. Anyway, in order that they registered:
Syd Lexia
Spanky McCracken
Valdronius
Tebor
Kubo (Although with the avatar change, I often miss his posts at first)
greeneyedzeke
SamanthaMcPoopenstein
Dr. Jeebus
lordsathien
Rycona
Mr. Bomberman
Black Zarak
DarkMaze
Chrisby
Cattivo
Char Aznable
RobotGumshoe
Ross Rifle
Knyte
Douche McCallister

It's worth noting Douche is the only person on that list that's past the first 3 pages on the memberlist. Also, it's worth noting that frequency of posts or number of posts isn't terribly relevant as some of those people post EXTREMELY infrequently, some haven't posted in at least a year, and some have barely 100 posts in over 3 years.

Also worth noting is that there are some people who I will NEVER consider veterans no matter how long they stay or how much they post because of terrible first impressions:
Hacker
Togdor or whatever the fuck he's called now
Jack Slater
blkplaguelmc
Kin 2 Goldfish
SevereFlame

I would worry less about whether or nor you're considered a veteran and just focus on being the best damned sexual harassment panda you can be. Post intelligently and other forum members will respect your posts, even if they disagree with you.

In all fairness, I did try to lock that thread when I was locking all the other forum "games".

Their have been a few forums that I've been on for years however I've never truly considered myself a vet on any of them. I just enjoy what little time I spend here whenever I can think of something to say, although I often fear that I get off-topic too much...like now. Anywho their is no need to worry about getting a vet status. Ever since I first came here the one thing I've noticed is that the forum is pretty laid-back so their is no need to compete with anyone as long as you don't go about blatantly flaming or hating mindlessly.

I definitely think that the less frequently an avatar/signature changes the more likely a person is to become identified with a community. I firmly believe that a physical representation of a person's digital persona helps to put a perspective on one's posts before they are even read. This can have positive or negative results, but the impact is real.

Speaking of signatures, what is the story behind yours? I've always wondered about it.

On the subject of changing avatars, just look my name up in the Sydapedia and you'll see I've used quite a few.
