Yeah I've been wanting to move my blog from myspace to something public, all my friends would rather trade gifts and play Mafia Circle Jerk Pirate Ninja Zombie Puzzle Shooter than read my rants about Friday the 13th and Bacon making everything better and how to make Kitten Salad and Emo Kid Stew...

Hey Hawk, got a question.
When it comes to wordpress, could I design my own layout / theme with html, or do I have to pick from pre rendered crap? I poked around their website and it seems like I'd have to pay for that... I just want a simple black background with neon green text!

^ As far as I understand it, yes, you would have to pay on a per-month basis for the "custom CSS" package if you wanted to design your own layout. If you had wordpress blog software as a part of a site you owned yourself I think it would be free, but if WP is hosting for you, yeah, you have to pay for design privileges.

Kudos, I agree wholeheartedly. I'm surprised that shit has become so popular with today's ladies, it's too bad because (imo) it really seems to be reinforcing the tired old stereotype that women dig jerks.

This is correct. If you run an installation of Wordpress on your own website, you can customize the hell out of it for free. There are thousands of plugins and custom themes available out there for you, and you can always make your own layout theme. The new section of this site runs off Wordpress: http://sitenews.sydlexia.com
It's kind of like how if you install the Wikimedia software on your own website, you can customize it, but if you start a wiki on Wikia, you're stuck with the plain old black and white layout.

So I haven't posted every time I've updated, but I do have quite a few new posts up on my blog so feel free to browse if you like.
There is one specific article I really, really want feedback on though. Its a new concept for an article series I came up with, and I really want to know what you think--its basically using D&D minis (and D&D mythology of course) as a jumping off point to look at the actual mythological creatures that inspired them. I don't know if this is boring to most people, too "schooly" for a pop culture blog, or what, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on if you liked it, hated it, think the execution and/or focus of future articles in the series needs tweaking, etc. Its here if you'd like to read it:

Thanks for your time guys!

So I've been considering doing a written Let's Play for my blog, to go along with the video ones I'm doing. I'm considering Mass Effect, the original KOTOR, Batman: Arkham Asylum, or Jade Empire. I also thought about FFX, I think I could do a great job with that, but I would have to use other people's screenshots since I have no way to capture footage from my PS2.
I'm leaning towards one of the Bioware games, since they have more dialogue and situations that I think I could riff and/or comment on. What say you guys? I'm open to thoughts, opinions or suggestions.

KOTOR and Jade Empires are two of my favorite games. I'd love to see you do a blog on Biowares games.

Well, I'm currently completely obsessed with KOTOR, and haven't gotten much farther than the first couple non-tutorial...levels...I guess on Jade Empire (not that its BAD--in fact it's quite good, but a) I can't stand the camera controls and b) its not about freaking Jedis!) so I have a feeling KOTOR will be the first one.

I don't remember much about the camera angles in Jade Empire. I just remember the scenery and colors and stuff like that. I thought they were pretty amazing.
KOTOR is such a fantastic game. I can't say enough good things about it to be honest. I suggest you try to do everything and anything so you can experience it all. I miss my kick ass lightsaber

Jade Empire is one of the most beautiful games I've ever played, and I LOVE the setting. I'm a huge martial arts movie fan, and this is like playing one of the movies.
The problem is, since the combat is real time, and A and D keys are used to strafe to the side, not turn. Turning is done by actually moving the mouse. I can't get used to this and absolutely hate this, despite understanding its necessity. (I really wish they had done something like Batman: AA where the A-D keys turn, but tapping them twice dodges to the side.)
There might be some way to change this in the menu options, but if there is, I haven't found it. Fixing it would make this game perfect.

Ah, I played Jade on my old original xbox so that's why I don't remember the controls being weird.

You know, its been forever since I've updated in this thread, and I've done quite a few articles since then. If you're interested in reading what I write, just check out the main site, www.soldierhawk.wordpress.com and browse around. I think a good portion of the front page should be new at this point.

Greetings and salutations Hawk. Just thought I would let you know I checked out your blog and I must say that it is most excellent. The wife and I checked out Dolan's Cadillac last night and she concurred that it was indeed overlooked awesomeness. Keep it up!
