Has anybody here watched Waiting and/or Still Waiting? These are movies about the going-ons in a day in the restaurant business. Since I work part time in a restaurant I found them to be a pretty accurate rendition of the business. I enjoyed the first one(Waiting) more than the sequel(Still Waiting) but the second one was still enjoyable. If you like comedy movies give these a shot, and definitely give them a shot if you work or ever have worked in a restaurant.
One thing I didn't really like about the sequel was the absense of Ryan Reynolds who in my opinion added a lot to the original and pretty much made the movie. It was still good just not as good as the previous movie.

This and the fact that my sister works at Red Lobster is why I don't eat out much, and I never send anything back.

Weren't Dane Cook and Anna Faris also absent from the sequel?

I think so but I think Ryan Reynolds absence was a lot bigger. Dane Cook only had a few lines in the original, funny but he was not as important as Reynolds.

Wasn't the second straight to dvd? That would explain the cast changes.
Wanted to see the first when it came out, but it appeared like a borderline movie that could go either way. It's in my queue for my new netflix account. Catching up on movies and tv shows now that I'm done with grad school.

Have Waiting on DVD. One of my absolute favorites.
Never saw Still Waiting. Without Ryan Reynolds, it just didn't seem like it'd be as funny.
Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

Still Waiting is still funny but I agree without Reynolds it was not nearly as funny. I still enjoyed it though.

The direct-to-DVD status was a result of the cast changes, not the other way around.
And the cast changes were a result of those people's schedules or just not being interested.

As someone else said, Dane Cook is only in the first one a little bit. And the womenfolk love him, so his name certainly would have helped the sequel if they could have put it on the box.

Maybe he didn't want to be in it. I don't care much for him anyway but his small part in Waiting was still funny.

True, annoying though he might be, Dane Cook's "Welcome to Thunderdome, bitch." was one of the funniest lines of the movie.

Waiting was fucking great.
I was unaware that there was a second movie though.

So was I until I heard about it on the rafting trip I was on with people from the restaurant where I work.

Waiting was a big movie when it was out where I was. I think it's an awesome movie. I agree about Ryan Reynolds too, his stuff is what I remember most about the movie.
I haven't seen Still Waiting, but I can't see it being better than the first. It was always one of those movies that never needed a sequel.
Haven't seen it but one of my friends did and now thinks it's the epitome of humor to batwing everyone he can.

I also loved whenever Naomi would be flipping out and all of a sudden be all calm and nice when she was talking to guests. I've seen that happen so many times at restaurants I've worked at. "These people don't know how to fucking order! Fucking idiots!" Two seconds later you see the same person acting all nice for the customers. Gotta love how the movie nailed that part.
Also in Still Waiting how a female server had to change an order and the cooks are all polite and when a male server does it they cuss him out. I've seen that happen in real life as well.

ive worked at Chilis, On the Border and Applebees and they nailed a ton of stuff. The part about the busers I didn't relate to because I was a buser that actually was fast and kicked ass. I made more than some servers because of that at the end of the night.

Heh, I was under the impression that people hated it for some weird reason.
But yeah, I loved Waiting. I don't remember any lines but I specifically remember Andy Milonakis being in it, and the guys that stand in the back by the dumpster making up terrible raps and generally doing nothing.

I think I'll pass on the second one.
I loved Ryan Reynolds' line about T-Dog and Nick. Something along the lines of
"...and these two fun loving pieces of wannabe gangster shit are Nick and Theodore."
Theodore/T-Dog: "How fucking times have I told you, it's the fucking T-Dog yo!?"
Nick(Andy Milonakis): "Yo bitch...what makes you think I won't cut you?"
Some funny ass lines right there. Also when Nick and T-Dog leave Monty flips them the west side sign and it looks hilarious.

Here's the headtrip for you:
The chick with the nasty bush at the end of Waiting?
Josie, from Beakman's World. Woah. AAaaaaand she's in the sequel.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas.
