So my main PC is in the shop. I hope it is repairable. I was in the market for a laptop though, so I bought a cheap laptop to use. This may be for the best since I am not that hardcore PC gamer anymore and this laptop has what I need. I was mostly using my PC to listen to music and do various stuff online. I can tell you I am not really liking Vista though.

Why not just buy a mouse to use with the laptop? That is what I did. If you have a case for your laptop a mouse doesn't take up that much room. Sure, there are some places using a mouse is impractical, but most the time it is not hard to find a flat surface somewhere to use one on.

I'm using a USB mouse on this laptop.

Vista gets better once you get used to it and turn on some options. Granted, you shouldn't have to change a settings and get used to something for it to be good. But I enjoy Vista quite a bit. I think it looks very nice and a lot of its useful things built in to it.
Not saying that it is great, but it is decent enough to good once to just get used to it.

I completely agree. I hated Vista, the new layout, and everything about it for like the first three weeks, then I got used to it and I'm actually quite pleased now. No, its not amazing, but its good enough that I don't kick myself, or find myself pining for XP.

Vista is alright, but I basically have most of the major new features disabled (UAC, search indexing, readyboost, etc.). I must admit, though, the new look has grown on me.

I don't think many people realize that XP becomes more Vistaish every single patch and upgrade.
Also, Vista becomes more Windows 7ish with each patch. Therefore XP becomes more 7ish.
All roads lead to 7.
