Care to make a list? I'm listening to music and can't be bothered to turn it off.

10 Contra
9 Kung Fu
8 Castlevania III
7 Blaster Master
6 Batman
5 Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!
4 Kid Icarus
3 Ninja Gaiden
2 Battletoads
1 Ghosts n' Goblins
No Gradius? That's a lot harder than Contra. I guess the rest of the list is ok. I still need to get around to beating Kid Icarus and Batman, but I beat the rest. (well... I didn't bother beating GnG twice to get the real ending)

I always found Silver Surfer to be an enjoyable game once you got the enemy patterns down, and I agree about Gradius, though like Contra it's about trying to keep your power-ups.

Kung Fu is not hard, neither is Contra, neither is Punch-Out, and Kid Icarus isn't worth playing.

For a first timer, Contra and Punch-Out will be difficult to beat.

I'm so sick of lists, and worse yet this is a video list, so I didn't even bother.

I know from personal experience that Mission: Impossible is the hardest game, good or otherwise, on the NES.

How exactly is Kung Fu worth playing?

Interesting list. I haven't beaten them all, but I've sure played them a lot. I need to beat Kid Icarus and Ghost and Goblins....

Sweet, I beat Kung Fu when I was younger, before school I remember. It took a number of trys but it didn't seem altogether too tough.

I don't know about "hardest worth playing," but those are certainly difficult games, mot are fun too. I'm not a huge Kung Fu fan, and I still have nightmares about Kid Icarus and falling off the clouds dressed as an eggplant, but a pretty list all the same, and entertaining at the very least.
I am happy Batman was on there. (Although..."best movie adaptation on the NES"? )

Looking at all other movie-based games on the NES, it's a correct statement.
I mean, Back To The Future? Alien 3? Beetlejuice? Friday the 13th? Nightmare on Elm Street?
Yeah. The only other good movie-based game I remember is Robocop, but it did have shitty controls.

Going by our friendly neighborhood top 100 list, that plum would go to Willow.

#1 is not worth playing. At all.
Even if you think GnG is worth playing, Battletoads should still be #1 because it is more worth playing.
Blaster Master isn't hard, it just has that whole Metroidesque "Great, where the fuck am I supposed to go now?" thing going on.
And honestly, I always found CV1 harder than CV3.

I've got to disagree about Punch-Out. I'm confident in assuming that a first-timer has a 0% chance of beating it. Hell, beating Von Kaiser your first time is probably damn near impossible.

What's the farthest anyone ever got in Battletoads? Without using the warp zones I think I could get to maybe the 5th stage. I can't remember the order of the stages, but I think the farthest I got WITH the warp zones was to the elevator shaft stage.
It always pissed me off how much the game had to offer, but I missed a lot of it because I couldn't reach it.

I agree. My big accomplishment in Punch-Out land is making it to Mike Tyson. After which I was promptly handed my ass, but still, I beat Super Macho Man. Yay me!

Same, if anything just because it has the hardest version of Death (Or hardest CV boss ever really).

Actually, all three Batman games are pretty up there on the good "movie based NES games" scale.
And yeah, I'm sick of lists myself.

Eh, Batman Returns was better on the SNES. Batman and Batman 3 were pretty cool though.

I have Batman: Return Of The Joker in my retro collection and it's good in my eyes. And what do you mean, Batman 3? You mean the NES Batman Returns?

No. The NES Batman progression was:
Batman
Batman Returns
Batman: Return of the Joker
RotJ was called Batman 3 in some regions, and I was feeling lazy. That it my favorite of the three games, by a longshot.

I'm amazed people had more of an issue with Punch-Out in my comment than with Kid Icarus.
Punch-Out is all just pattern learning and reflexes. There's not much to it beyond that.
