So everywhere I go that has an arcade machine in it always has the same machine: Galaga. It;s almost the only one i've ever seen. Does anyone else find this true? And if not, what are the most common arcade machine you've seen?

Not here. Mostly Big Game Hunters, Secret Spy Games, Army Training, and A few classics. In a barber shop I visit every month or two, I go to the arcade there, and they've got a Arcade Cabinet with 9 rows of Arcade Classics, 4 for each row, so 9 x 4 = 36 game for one quarter each.

At the few arcades here, most of them are in restaurants. There are a few games you can count on seeing in most of them. One is either Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga or the combo cabinet with both of them. Also there is often a hunting game or some kind as well.

What's funny about Ms. Pac-Man is there is one arcade in town that has both Ms. Pac-Man and then the Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga combo. Ms. Pac-Man is only a quarter while the combo is fifty cents. You'd be kind of dumb to want to pay fifty cents on the combo, unless you wanted to continue but that in my opinion is kind of cheating.

As far as real arcades go, I have pretty much ALWAYS seen some kind of Time Crisis machine, as well as DDR.

There is an arcade in Denver that I haven't been to for a long time but they always had those two games. They would also have the large screen version of Marvel VS Capcom 2.

Ms. Pac-Man seems to be very common. I think I have seen that machine more than any others.

Yeah, absolutely Ms. Pac Man when it comes to places like restaurants. Time Crisis games are another big one.

In regular arcades, I find they always have some sort of driving sim (the type where you actually sit down in the machine.)

The arcades around here have a few of those kind of games as well. I think one place has San Francisco Rush 2049 and one of those Fast And The Furious motorcycle games. The other arcade the last time I was there had Four Wheel Thunder and Crazy Taxi.

its sad i dont know even know where theres an arcade around here unless you go to one of those chuck e cheese type places, but what fucking games are there. all i ever see now is stupid golden tee machines and "who can hit the speed bag the hardest" machines at the bar.

no way, a game where drunk people can fight over who can hit something harder. what a clever marketing ploy.

My favorite racing sim is actually a skiing game. (No, that's not the same as driving, but go with me here.) Its called Alpine Racer I think, and it has a little setup of skis and poles you stand with and use to control the game. It costs a whole buck, but its well worth it imho. So much fun.

Ms. Pac-Man is the best-selling US Arcade game of all time. There's 120,000 of them out there. So it's not a shock you seem them everywhere.

Supposedly Pac-Man sold 100,000 units, but I never see a damn regular old Pac-Man machine.

I don't know if it's still there but a beach town a couple hours away has a big arcade with Metal Slug, some cop game with a light gun and a ton of others, as well as those things where you whack moles and see how hard you can hit this thing to ring the bell and you get tickets you can turn in for prizes. Last time I was there I was like 12, I hope it's still there, it was a very fun time.

I have never seen the punching game in a bar, but just about every bar I have been in around here has a Golden Tee machine.

There are not many arcades in my city, but there is a Ms Pacman.
The Arcades that I've seen in most places are Tumblepop and Snow Brothers, I've seen them in at least 3 different places. I also saw Sunset Riders like 3 or 4 times, but there's a big chance that's only one or two machines that changed owners....

Around here it's all Silent Scope, DDR (or Stepmania in a DDR machine), Tekken (usually Tag or 4), Virtua Fighter 3, House of the Dead, Time Crisis 2, Anus Fruitshake 3000. I still have to see a decent Street Fighter 2 or Metal Slug machine.

DDR tends to be a good money maker in arcades.

I think it's also just a pain in the ass to move.

In my experience Big Game Hunter or any variant is a sign of death if seen in an arcade, my town is living proof. Every spot which used to have an arcade now has a Big game hunter or one of it's spin-offs and that's about it. Sometimes their might be a shitty claw-machine next to it, but that's usually it.

The most common arcade units around where I live are the Ms. Pac-man/Galaga combo machine and (weirdly enough) Arctic Thunder. Not that I'm complaining, though, Arctic Thunder is a godsend to play on a hot day (it has a powerful air conditioner built into it). Every once in a while I'll see a Street Fighter II cabinet as well (and not any of the good versions, the original that only has 8 playable characters).

I found an honest-to-god Dig Dug machine at a place in New York City once. I was so amazed, I pumped about forty bucks worth of quarters into it. Other than that, 95% of what I've seen is galaga, though. It's really sad how there are no real arcades anymore, and the places that have machines seem to be getting rid of them faster and faster.
