I took a great rafting trip on Thursday and Friday with people from the restaurant where I work part time. I have not really been rafting since I was probably 12 and have not been on a boat since maybe 1995. It was a lot of fun since the water was really mellow so you could just lay on the boats and just relax. I did get a really bad sunburn even though I was using sunscreen. It is a weird feeling when you are on dry land and you still feel like you are floating.

We were on the Colorado River, we drove past Grand Junction and got in near Fruita. We then started rafting around noon on Thursday and camped overnight. The next day we rafted a few miles past the Colorado/Utah border and then got out and drove back. The canyons we were going through were pretty cool to look at.

Badass, Ice. I love trips like that, and yours sounded particularly good. I'm glad you had such a great time!

Did you see any cool animals while you were out?

Not really. We saw some birds of prey but I couldn't tell what kind they were. Other than the birds that was all we really saw. The scenery was really impressive though. I didn't bring a camera because I didn't want to risk losing it but other people from the restaurant had cameras.

I also knew a lot of raft safety because I had a speech class in college and we had to choose between a river safety speech or a dog sledding speech since the teacher did both and provided all the basic info needed for the speech. I remembered all the stuff about foot entrapment, strainers and not to wrap the throw bag rope around your arm or hand.

I really look forward to doing it again sometime.
