All right, I saw this commercial and thought it was amusing, but shortly after that I saw on The Early Show that people are complaining that it is too sexual to market to children. I really don't agree (but then again I was watching I Spit on Your Grave at ten years old). My parents were strict in certain aspects, but they never gave a shit what I watched or played. They were concerned with the things I did and real life. I don't have children though, so maybe I am wrong in seeing no problem with the commercial. I am curious if anybody else thinks this is an offensive commercial.

I don't think it's offensive in the least. The only thing that offended me is that Sir Mix-a-lot stooped so low as to associate with Spongebob. Then again, that's just me.

More that Sir Mix-a-lot sold out to Burger King. Though if it had to be a fast food joint, I'm glad it was BK. I love the King.

Thanks, you're too kind. lol
I don't mind Spongebob, however I don't really find the show that appealing. I suppose I'm jaded because I can't really come to terms with the fact that the show has been around for so long. When it first came out I used to watch it, however it's sense of humour gradually lost it's charm for me.

I saw it and knew the uptight prudes would start yammering about it, sure enough a few days later they did. Complaining about how it's sexual and degrading to women, like all of us guys really dig square phone book asses, sheesh does anyone understand satire anymore? Rolling Eyes

I found nothing wrong with it. But you can't tell that to all the over-protective soccer moms.

I was shocked when I first saw it. The most well-known rap song about ASSES used to market kids meals to kids? I mean, c'mon, they're using a sexually-charged rap song to motivate kids to badger their parents to go to BK. Just using Spongebob should be good enough, they didn't have to bring our culture to a new low.

This was quite possibly the most inappropriate thing I've ever seen on TV, and that's saying a lot. Most explicit things are on at an appropriate hour, but this is a commercial that is on anytime and is specifically marketed towards kids.

I laughed when I saw it, but if I had kids I would have been trying very hard to explain to them why this even exists.

Well kids, there use to be this guy who liked big butts but now he is a failure and he has to talk about Sponge Bob's sexual fantasies.

I think it's funny, but who thought this would get past the protective parents? Were they just trying to get hype or something?

Eh, Spongebob's been in the eyes of controversy for years. Apparently, people think that the show has a bit of a gay theme or something.

I find it to be kind of funny but I have to say it is a little inappropriate for kids in my opinion.

Do they even play this commercial at times when kids are watching? I mean, it's technically geared toward parents anyways as it's about getting a meal and then getting a kids meal for 99 cents extra. I've only ever seen it on Cartoon Network after 10 PM, when kids should technically be in bed. I'm not sure you can claim this is aimed at kids as it is younger "hipper" parents.

I hate this commercial. It seems forced. Also, it's dumb.

Another commercial I hate is the one with Little Tiger Woods and all those singing animals. That commercial is, to paraphrase Pantera, far beyond gay.

Thank you. I hate this commercial too, since the first time I saw it. I never even stopped to think about it being "sexual" because I was too busy being pissed off by a shitty adaptation of an even shittier initial song. Ugh.

I know Burger King is known for making weird commercials but what were they thinking when they made this one?

Since the original song is undisguised sexual innuendo it's slightly disturbing that some manager in BK's Kid's Meal marketing Department associated it with a kids show and ran to the board meeting fidgeting with uncontainable glee at his oh so clever new idea for a commercial. What a sick bastard! Mad

Again, I'd like to point out that I don't think this was aimed at kids; it just uses a iconic character that parents will recognize and a song they will probably have nostalgia for. Is it a good idea? Probably not, but it's not the end of western civilization as we know it like some people are making it out to be.
