Anyone remember these guys? Most people around here seem to remember them solely for their single "Hey Man, Nice Shot", and up until two days ago, I did too. You see, I picked up Filter: The Very Best Things (1995-2008), along with a bunch of other CDs, and I was very impressed. Welcome to the Fold, (Can't You) Trip Like I Do feat. the Crystal Method, Soldier of Misfortune, Dose, Skinny, One (is the loneliest number), The Best Things, and Thanks Bro are fucking awesome, and I can't believe some of this stuff doesn't get airplay out here. I mean, "Hey Man, Nice Shot" is still great, but it isn't the only thing they had done.
Anyways, anyone else remember this band?

Always loved Filter growing up. Take a Picture and Welcome To The Fold are spectacular.

Yeah I always liked some of their stuff, but when "Take a Picture" came out it made me sad. It sounded like it could have been Matchbox 20 or some other band similar. If you didn't know already you would have no idea that it was Filter singing that garbage, not to mention the video with the lead singer like skipping through fields of flowers or whatever. I just found it to be gayness compared to every single song they ever did.

I liked Filter growing up, Short Bus was a good record. They fell into obsurity(for me) and I forgot about them until "Take a Picture" came out. It's my opinion, but that song sucks hard so much that it's difficult to listen to their earlier stuff and still take them seriously.
I find Ministry to be a very good alternative. This was a nice trip down memory lane though.

I knew a kid who's favorite song of all time was "Hey man nice shot" who later shot himself. I always wonder if he had it cranked up as loud as possible and looping.

They were one of my favorite bands as a teenager. I was a sucker for industrial music like that and Stabbing Westward and Orgy.
Their second album was a bit lighter in tone, but still good. They get regular rotation on my zune when I shuffle my industrial albums.
