Eh, this could go either way for me. I dislike Family Guy, but I enjoy Trek: TNG. So I probably will tune in to see if it has any entertainment value.

This had better be good and I'm a little concerned with how Family Guy has totally sucked this entire season. I mean did they really need the entire Christian Bale tirade and the entire music video a couple episodes ago? I mean that was nearly half of the episode right there. Oh well this episode better be good.

I despise Family Guy now, although it still has its moments. I'll be tuning into this purely for the TNG aspect... and I had better not be disappointed.

Same here. The fact that they managed to get the actors from the show is enough for me to tune in. I just hope it isn't going to be a waste of time.

The way things are going this season I won't be surprised if they do mess it up. I'm hoping they don't but the writers are so out of ideas it is not even funny.
A few episodes ago they had Bonnie actually give birth. Now taking a perpetually pregnant woman and being so out of ideas for an episode they they actually decide to finally have her give birth shows that they are really scraping the bottom of the barrel for ideas. That and the entire Christian Bale tirade and music video were also in that episode and took up almost half of the show.
If they mess this up I will be very, very disappointed.

I think family guy sucked this season on purpose. Think about it. Fox pays them more to air on...Fox then Adult Swim did, and they're such an ridiculously popular show now that as long as they bring in the ratings (which they still do) they can practically get away with anything

The fact that they played the ENTIRE Conway Twitty song from Hee Haw recently was ridiculous. The fact that they already did that joke in a prior episode makes it even worse. Running gags are one thing, but it wasn't funny the first time. Oh, and Lois tripping in front of the house after playing the Willie Wonka song with her running home. Who didn't see that coming thats familiar with the show. And of course they over extended the scene just like when Peter did it. I agree, the whole show has had a severe drop in quality. They take a joke and milk it long past the point of being funny.

I'm reminded of whenever Peter hurts his knee. At least they killed the Vaudeville guys.

I kind of liked the Vaudeville guys. When I was younger and the show first came on I really loved it. What makes me angry is that people used to treat me like crap because I liked it, now they do nothing but reference it non-stop. The ironic thing is, they started liking it about the same time I realized that most of the jokes were little more than other people's work being butchered and made into puns to fit into a thirty-minute slot on Fox.
This show is pretty much dead to me, however they occasionally do say something funny, but it's pretty rare.

Exactly, that ate up like three minutes of time. That is the kind of crap I'm getting sick of. I can understand doing maybe a small part of it but to use the entire song is just stupid. Plus like you mentioned they already did the Conway Twitty thing before and it was not funny the first time.
The Christian Bale tirade and music video ate up close to half of the episode like I've mentioned above. Or when they drag something on and on. For example on the recent episode where Peter became gay he was like "Guiltyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" for like an entire minute. Also one of the newer episodes when peter plays golf with OJ Simpson. I mean are they really so out of ideas that they need to joke about something from 1994/1995?
Season three is still in my opinion the last good season they had. Everything else past that went downhill, slowly at first but they started using way too much filler/cut-aways starting with season four and onward.

The B-story with the TNG cast was pretty funny. I hated having to watch that A-story though, which just became a tirade against religion. The show does that constantly - presents a distorted view of christianity and then mocks it and tears it down.

This episode sucked! They couldn't make better use of the TNG cast than that!? Most of it was just dumb arguing between Stewie and the cast members.
They also had to do that dumbass "W" joke again. That fucking joke got old the first time they did it with the Cool Whip and the pie two seasons ago. They also managed to include another dumb drawn out segment when Brian was chewing on the cross and he kept growling at Meg.
Patrick Stewart was the only cast member that they made decent use of and even that could have been done so much better.
And what the fuck was the point of showing Rob Lowe and Adam West at the end in their bedroom?
Seth MacFarlane, you've managed to fuck up not only Family Guy but also Star Trek TNG in one fell swoop. Fuck you!

I missed it, although it wasn't like I went out of my way to try and watch it in the first place. So the TNG members weren't even part of the main story? That's so horribly lame it's not even funny. I know Family Guy is contrived, but I thought that they'd at least take advantage of having all the members of the main crew of TNG. All they did was have them argue with Stewie? Geez...

Hey! You simmer down!
You were given fair warning about the quality of this episode when you were handed a remote and told that it was OK to change the channel.

I thought the B story with Stewie and the TNG cast was funny even if they were just arguing, but the rest of the episode was God awful. Family Guy really, really sucks at this point.
I'm pretty sure Seth McFarlane isn't writing it or involved in it at any way at this point, however. American Dad's season has been fantastic, and Cleveland's spinoff show is airing in September (Which means it needs to already be written, or at least the first half of the season). You can't have one crew writing 3 weekly shows and expect them all to be good, no matter who it is.

I agree the B story was much better than the A story. As for religion, the show used to be a lot better about it. Remember when the Pope visited and gave Peter's dad at a job? Or earlier this season, when Peter met Jesus in a record store?
The show used to poke fun at religion's absurdities without denouncing it, much like the movie Dogma, or what South Park has always done. But this season in particular the show has gotten extremely hateful and took a sharp turn to the far left. Nazis wearing McCain/Palin buttons? Lois getting a job at a very skewed version of FOX News? Christians burning a book called "Logic For First Graders"? Give me a fucking break.
And for the last time, REPETITION ISN'T FUCKING FUNNY. Do we really need a minute long scene in every episode that's just the same bullshit over and over? Last week had Lois doing the fucking knee gag, this week it was Brian refusing to give Meg back the cross. That's not funny, that's LAZY FUCKING WRITING.

I agree. In the previous episode they had Peter talk to Chris in the kitchen three times in the episode. Granted they changed the dialogue each time but it was still them talking in the kitchen over and over. These minute plus long drag outs have to go.

Yeah, you're right on. That treatment of religion was a lot more thoughtful. Ever since the show came back and MacFarlane has so many other responsibilities, the show has gotten worse and ran out of ideas. Brian has just become this liberal mouthpiece that shapes the episodes.
Right on about the repetition too. Another example how they're out of ideas, and are just trying to fill time in the episodes. It's funny for the first few seconds, but it always crosses the point where it's no longer funny and just becomes annoying.
This has spread to other shows too now. When I still catch a simpsons every once in a while, it's there too. I remember seeing it elsewhere as well....It's a real bane to modern comedy.

In regards to the cross scene, did anyone notice a certain familiar tune in Brian's growls? Because no one's mentioned it yet.

Yeah, it was "The Right Stuff" by New Kids on the Block.
That made me smile a little, but they had already dragged out the joke too long by that point.

I think Family Guy has gotten to the point where it's actually dead to me. I'll watch new episodes since there's nothing else on, but I wouldn't give a shit if it was canceled.
