Anyone else here like Mother Love Bone? They were a grunge band in late '80s seattle. They're not really grunge though, more like Pearl Jam. They formed from the ashes of Malfunkshun and Green River, with the latter by many considered to be the first grunge band. Also, when their frontman, Andrew Wood, died of a heroin overdose, the band Temple of the Dog formed to record a tribute, which featured Eddie Vedder, where he met several other musicians, and thus Pearl Jam formed. Anyway, here's a couple of their songs. First up is Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns, which is probably their most popular song. It was in Singles.

And then next up is my favorite song of theirs, Capricorn Sister.

Pearl Jam plays Crown of Thorns on one of their live DVDs, I was wondering who the original artist was...

I like Pearl Jam, do you think I'd like MLB?

Probably, they've got a bit more... I don't know... glam(?) to them, they sound really similar at times, though.

My favorite band of all time is Alice in Chains. Coming equal second is Mother Love Bone and Temple of the Dog. Best music ever!

Malfunkshun and Green River are superior, but yeah Mother Love Bone rocks pretty hard.

And Singles itself was an alright movie, I mostly just watched it for the gratuitous cameos featuring the likes of Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell.

Yeah, I thought Singles sucked. I too watched it for the cameos. And Quantinuum, they're my favorite, too. Also, I disliked Temple of the Dog. That Reach Down or whatever it is song was good, and "Hunger Strike" was good, and there were a couple others, but the record seemed pretty boring, overall.

I forgot to say that I also love Mad Season. They only made those songs within a few weeks too.

As amazing as Mudhoney (ONE WORD, ASSHOLE) is, they're not related to MLB like Malfunkshun or Green River. They're more of a Pearl Jam-esque association, except Pearl Jam is a hell of a lot more well known. No... I loves me some Mudhoney, though, SuperFuzz BigMuff FTW. Even their newer stuff with... horns *shudders* isn't that bad. They do have two great legacies, though, Mark Arm coined the term Grunge to describe the music, and in my opinion at least, they are grunge in it's truest form. Also, I heard somewhere that one of them (not Mark) got Chris Farley back on drugs just before he died, don't know if it's true, and it's obviously not something to be proud of... but wouldn't that be neat?
