Square-Enix just confirmed that a sequel to the 2009 hit Dissidia: Final Fantasy is on the way! Confirmed characters so far are just Kain Highwind of Final Fantasy IV fame and Lightning from the "open-ended" hit Final Fantasy XIII. I had a list of characters that I set up predicting who would be in the next Dissidia if they made it, I'll try to find it and post it here.

Furthermore Kain is a good choice, but I'm looking forward to either Auron vs. Seymour or Zell vs. Seifer (though I would like to see the ability to transfer your beefed up characters from the first Dissidia to this one for matches like Squall and Seifer)

How is XIII open ended? I watched my roommates each play through it and it's the exact same linear plot every time.

Yeah, it's just for PSP, here's my wish list of characters for Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy
FF1: A Black or Red Mage against Astos
FF2: Maria against Leon
FF3: Luneth or Arc against Xande
FF4: Kain against Zemus
FF5: Faris or Lenna against Gilgamesh
FF6: Celes or Locke against Gesthal
FF7: Zack, maybe Tifa against Jenova or Genesis
FF8: Laguna against Seifer
FF9: Steiner or Garnet against Beatrix
FF10: Auron against Seymour
FF11: I dunno, I never really could play FF11 due to the online costs
FF12: Vaan and Basch against Vayne
Pretty much balance out the teams a bit more, the original roster had some pretty heavy distinctions between the sides of Cosmos and Chaos. Cosmos only had 1 mage type character, Terra, and Chaos had a wealth of mage type fighters.

Since Kain is one of my favorite FF Chars of all time. This makes me very happy. I wouldn't mind having a playable Moogle either. Just use the ones from FFVI.

Here're my suggestions for new characters, game-by-game (bearing in mind I know nothing of 2 or 3):

FF1 Hero: Black Belt or Thief (EX mode could be Ninja)
FF1 Villain: No bother. Chaos and Garland pretty much covers
FF4 Hero: Kain (The developers themselves said they wanted to put him in) w/ Holy Dragoon EX mode (From After Years) (CONFIRMED, but not anything about Holy Dragoon stuff)
FF4 Villain: Either Zemus or The Mysterious Girl from After Years
FF5 Hero: Faris or Galuf
FF5 Villain: Gilgamesh
FF6 Hero: Lots of options but I'd most like to see either Locke, Celes, Edgar, Cyan, or even General Leo.
FF6 Villain: Ultros or Gestahl
FF7 Hero: Tifa (If Kain's present in the roster, there's little need for Cid)
FF7 Villain: Some aspect of Jenova or Kadaj from Advent Children (EX mode being Sephiroth)
FF8 Hero: Rinoa
FF8 Villain: Seifer
FF9 Hero: Vivi or Garnet
FF9 Villain: Beatrix
FF10 Hero: Yuna would make more sense against Seymour, but I'd love to have Auron
FF10 Villain: Seymour
FF12 Hero: Anyone other than Vaan, Penelo, or Fran (I like Fran a lot, but she's needs Balthier)
FF12 Villain: Vayne Solidor
FF13 Hero: Lightning (CONFIRMED)
FF 13 Villain: The main villain

They've already got the Ninja covered in Dissidia with the Onion Knight's EX form. Chances are for XII's hero they'll either have Vaan, Ashe or Basch. Vaan has the revenge deal thing going, same with Ashe and Basch has a whole Cecil-Golbez thing going for him so any of those would work well in the Dissidia-verse.

cool, dissidia is a good game. lightning too, is one great character and kain highwind also but in fact i don't care too much for new characters. i stick with cloud as my maincharacter anyway.

Ok, but if that's your words describing it, why would you quotation mark something you know to be false and if you copied it from somewhere else, why would the author who has clearly never played it refer to it as such? I'm just a little confused.

I hope not. I think everybody from D1 is necessary, as they are all main heroes/villains.
