It is a very big image, but it deserves to be.

One of my friends is currently in Japan for a month just visiting and have a good time. She sent me this picture of an arcade game she was playing.

There's either two different Mario Kart arcade game, Mario Kart GP and Mario Kart GP2. They use the Triforce hardware, which was a joint venture between Nintendo, Sega, and Namco. The arcade games themselves were developed by Namco and Nintendo.

Blinky, Pac-Man, and Mrs. Pac-Man appear as playable racers in MKGP and MKGP2.

Since MKGP2 was developed after the Namco-Bandai merger, Mametchi, a popular Tamagotchi character was also included in MKGP2.

Neither will ever receive a console release, and MKGP2 was only released in Japan. Namco apparently did sell MKGP1 machines in the US, but damned if you'll ever see one.

There used to be one at the Crossgates Mall in Albany, me and a bunch of my friends used to play it. It's rather fun.

I remember seeing those on the internet a while back.

God damnit Japan with their Mario Kart Arcade and Street Fighter 4 and such. I miss arcades so dearly.

I was in Asia a couple summers ago and we stopped in Tokyo for 5 days. We planned to do a lot of sight-seeing, but there were just too many arcades around to get anything done. We ended up in the arcades for like 3 of the 5 days, we just couldn't help ourselves.

Anyway, I ran into that Mario Kart arcade, it was pretty fun but the communist factor was huge. You could be leading the race the entire time but someone would always catch you right at the end. I was bitter because nobody beats me at Mario Kart and nobody puts Baby in the corner!

There was a Mario Kart GP in the Carousel Mall in Syracuse about 3-4 years ago, but I have no clue if they still have it. It pissed me off because I won the race but I had to put another set of credits in to play again.

I saw an MKGP2 machine in the UK sometime last year. If I end up going to the same arcade some time this year (at the time, I had no idea the machines were so hard to find outside of Japan), I'll take a photo.

It is awesome. There's something about playing as Pac-Man in a Mario game that is awesome for no apparent reason.

I think I spent about £5 (50p per race, so 10 credits) on it, then the initial novelty wore off. Oh yeah, and I'd ran out of change.

There was a MKGP in the arcade at my mall, since it was owned by Namco. Unfortunately, this arcade sucked ass and I met my fifth crappy Tekken 5 machine with broken controls. God, is Namco mentally handicapped in the cabinet construction department or something? Christ, anyways they at least had a Hydro Thunder machine, and I often end up playing that over MKGP.

They have come to the States. . . well, at least the first one, as far as I know. . . .

In fact, the other year, I went to an arcade with my family during Spring Break, which happened to have that game. We all played on it.

It is in the United States, friend. You just have to look for an arcade that has one.

There is an arcade less than 2 miles from my apartment with a MKGP1 setup in it. I have only played it once but it was damn fun.

They still do man. I was there this week and they had it but two little kids were playing it. For a while they had one at Great Northen Mall which is about 20 minutes from Syracuse, where I held the record for the first two tracks on the Rainbow Circuit Razz

I played the original in Peru. Fun game, but I was annoyed that the machine was out of the cards that let you save your progress.
